Four Day/Three Night Stay at Southern Pine Lodge - Steinhatchee Landing

Being one of the newest vacation rentals in Steinhatchee Landing Resort, Southern Pine Lodge offers the perfect place for a large family, group or a reunion. The large 5-bedroom cottage is located across from the pool area and a short walk to the docks. With three bedrooms upstairs and two downstairs, it is a perfect place for the family or group of friends to spend a vacation.

The cottage offers steps as well as an accessible ramp leading to the porch, living area and downstairs bedroom. The new game room offers a pool table, foosball table and additional TV, as well as 2 half baths. Within the game room is an additional small bedroom offering 2 sets of bunk beds, single over double, offering sleeping accommodations for 6. Perfect for the kids!

The gathering area downstairs offers a living and dining area combination. The living area has a queen size sleeper sofa. The large dining table providing seating for 10 is located next to the spacious kitchen. Additional seating is available on the porch.

The downstairs bedroom has a king size bed and a handicapped accessible bath. This is the perfect bedroom for those who do not wish to climb stairs.

Upstairs you will find three bedrooms. The first bedroom has three twin beds and a roll away. The second bedroom offers a king size bed and the third bedroom offers queen beds. Each bedroom has its own bathroom as well as a half bath upstairs. In total, the cottage provides sleeping for 20 guests.

The large wrap around porch offers several tables with chairs, an old-fashioned swing and a couple of rocking chairs, under ceiling fans to keep you comfortable. The charcoal BBQ grill is located right off the front porch for easy access. Grill your steaks, burgers or fresh catch for the family!

Plenty of parking is available adjacent to the cottage.

Steinhatchee Landing Resort sits on 35 acres with canopies of oaks. The river is a short walk from the cottage, as well as the docks and the petting zoo. The petting zoo offers chickens, ducks rabbits and our two very friendly goats! The pool, spa, sauna and exercise room are located across the street from the cottage. There is also a basketball court, tennis court and an archery range available for your use. (Ask us about rental of archery equipment).

There is a boat dock with approximately 22 boat slips available on a first-come, first-served basis, with plenty of parking in the resort for your boat trailer.

Steinhatchee is known for its fishing and hunting year round. Whether it is fresh or salt water fishing you prefer, Steinhatchee has both! Canoeing and kayaking are very popular as well. Bring your boat, canoe or kayak or you may rent one at one of the local Marinas.

Duke Energy Mariculture Center - Private Tour and Fishing

Have you ever wondered where all the redfish for STAR and CCA Florida's restocking efforts come from? Our good friends at the Mariculture Center make it all happen in beautiful Crystal River. Over the past 29 years, Eric Latimer and his team has been responsible for releasing over 4.2 million finfish and crustaceans into the gulf waters. They also grow different grasses for both fresh and saltwater habitats. The facility is truly amazing and features indoor photothermally controlled spawning rooms, outdoor quarantine/holding tanks as well as eight (1) acre grow out ponds. It's definitely a sight to see and should be on everyone's bucket list to visit.

The Mariculture Center is NOT open to the public but we have the golden ticket! If you win it, you and a friend will get a full tour and behind the scenes look at the longest tenured hatchery in the state of Florida. Release the East - Bull Redfish Brood Stock Collection

Two lucky anglers will join CCA Florida, the Duke Energy Mariculture Center, Mudhole Custom Tackle and Capt. Jim Ross to help catch the brood stock (30" +) for the "Release the East" restocking program. The new east coast redfish photothermally controlled spawning room at the Mariculture Center is complete and ready to welcome these spawning sized fish. As you may know, East Coast Redfish are genetically different from the West Coast redfish stock. In order to spawn, raise and release hundreds of thousands of redfish on the East Coast, we must collect 20 - 25 brood stock to use as the "parents" for the juvenile (3" - 5") redfish that will be stocked throughout the east coast.

The east coast redfish population has drastically declined as a result of water quality issues and loss of habitat, and the primary goal for this initiative is to help relieve the suffering redfish populations along Florida's east coast. In phase one of the program, CCA Florida and Duke Energy pledges to spawn, raise and release 100,000 juvenile redfish to help restock the east coast.

The collection of the brood stock will take place in late August - early September in the Titusville area. It all depends on the fish but we are looking at the week of August 24th or the week of September 1st to collect the brood stock. You and your fishing partner will enjoy a full day of fishing for bull redfish and assist with the collection of east coast brood stock. The date(s) and exact location(s) will be determined by Capt. Jim Ross and his crew of guides that will be helping with this initiative. Note, we will not collect fish from Mosquito Lagoon during this initiative.

Central Florida Sportsman Experience for 2 with CCA's Executive Director Brian Gorski and Senior Regional Director Adam Miller

This Central Florida experience will be based out of the Clermont chain of lakes and will include a 2-night stay at the Lake Minneola Inn and participation in an alligator hunt and frog gigging. Lake Minneola Inn has been hosting guests near and far for over 100 years. The Inn is set on a beautiful lake front property with the most amazing sunsets in Lake County. You can find a great place to eat right in their back yard at The Tiki Bar & Grill.

Winning bidder and companion will be picked up at the Minneola Inn and Tiki Bar just after sunset to embark on the hunt throughout the Clermont chain of lakes. This hunt will be using the conventional method of "snagging" the alligator with rod and reel and fighting until boat side. Once the alligator is boat side a .357 bang stick will be used to finish it off. This is an up close and personal type of hunt and can be very exciting at times. While scouting for alligators, we'll have the opportunity to gig some frogs as well.

This trip is available from August 29th to September 5th 2020. Trip will include the use of one (1) Florida alligator FWC issued CITES tag. Middle Grounds Fishing Trip with Hang'Em High Sport Fishing with Two Nights' Accommodations for Six

Let's go fishing out of Crystal River! This trip of a lifetime is a 17-hour trip to the Middle Grounds during the months of May through October. On this trip, you'll leave the dock at 2:30 am and return to the dock at 4:30 pm the same day. The captain will provide jumbo marine grade bean bag chairs for each client for the 90-mile trip out to some of the best bottom fishing there is. Typically, they arrive at the fishing grounds around 5:30 am and begin catching snapper and grouper as the sun comes up. They'll also put out flat lines for kingfish and wahoo which bite more at sunrise. As the sun comes up the grouper bites usually picks up and they switch over to catching them. Around 11AM they usually start working their way home targeting whichever species of fish that they have not maxed out on yet. Their 42 ft Freeman with quad 350's is designed and built specifically for long range fishing trips boasting a cruising speed of 40-45 mph while maintaining a great ride.

They specialize in catching as many species as possible. In addition to bottom fish, they also target pelagic species such as Dolphin, Wahoo, and Blackfin tuna when possible. The bottom fish they target on the Middle Grounds are Vermillion Snapper, Mangrove Snapper, lane Snapper, Red Snapper, Gag Grouper, Scamp Grouper, Red Grouper, Amberjack, Kingfish, Cobia, and Red Porgies. With such a variety of species to target they have no trouble bringing home a box full of fish on these fantastic trips.

They also grow different grasses for both fresh and saltwater habitats. "Mermaid" by Carey Chen

Carey Chen's fascinating use of colors and his knack for capturing detail has catapulted him to the forefront of the marine art industry. The incredible blend of colors and exquisite detail are the trademark of each Carey Chen masterpiece. Although brilliance exudes from his work, painting is the latest endeavor in a life full of adventures. Chen grew up with a special love for the ocean. Although his artistic abilities were apparent at an early age, Chen opted to pursue other hobbies including racing motorcycles and show cars. His spare time was spent fishing and diving off the coast of Miami and the Florida Keys. Chen found time each year to return to his hometown of Jamaica fishing the annual Port Antonio Blue Marlin Tournament where he helped mate on several of the top sport fishing boats. In 1987, 1988 and 1989 Chen fished on three different boats, helping bring home the first-place trophy each year. With over 300 blue marlin releases to date, Chen has captured the beauty of game fish in their natural habitat. Fishing tournaments became Chen's new passion. He turned in his 20-foot Sea Craft for a 25-foot Mako and fished in several tournaments throughout South Florida. His reputation as an experienced and accomplished angler grew rapidly, and so did his visual memory. The more he fished, the more he witnessed incredible, breathtaking moments at sea. Fierce battles with powerful creatures produced moments that became etched in Chen's mind.

Growing up fishing and hunting the Everglades was an interesting and unique part of my life that shaped a lifelong love of the outdoors. After school and returning from a four-year enlistment in the Navy, I went into the family plastering business with my dad. Every weekend I would still spend as much time outdoors as possible. In 1985 I decided to make a living from my experience as an outdoorsman and earned my Captains License. I guided clients around Naples and the Everglades for Snook, Redfish and Tarpon on weekends; while still working in the family construction business. I met my wife Lynn in 1985 and a year later we were married. I continued to work in the plastering trade and fished as much as possible. Our daughter Casey was born in 1986 and things were going well. Living and guiding in "The Glades" in the 80's was full of temptation and easy money. Marijuana smuggling was a fast buck that I should have had the good sense to stay away from, but I didn't, and in 1989 I was arrested by U.S. Customs for conspiracy to import marijuana. I plead guilty and was sentenced to 5 years federal time. It was while in prison that I first started to develop an interest in painting. After all, I had plenty of time. I was released on parole after 26 months and returned home to my wife and daughter. I went back to work, but continued to paint as much as possible. After a great deal of encouragement and support from my wife, family & friends, I applied to the Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, FL. I wanted to be a wildlife artist. In 1993 at age 35, and only a month after sending my application to Ringling, I fell two stories off a building while working on a job site and was out of the full-time construction business. I guess it really was time for a career change! While recuperating from the accident, I received an acceptance letter from the art school. We sold our home, quit our jobs, took our daughter Casey out of school and moved to Sarasota. I started school full time, Lynn found work and we purchased an older home. I started a plaster repair business to help make ends meet. We now had a new life and direction and were determined to make it work. I graduated from Ringling in 1998 earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree as an Illustrator. Since that time, I've focused on game fish and wildlife art. Around 2000 I started illustrating game fish and marine art on navigational charts. I work in a variety of mediums, but chose acrylic as my medium of choice due to the ability to use the fast-drying medium transparently, or more direct and opaque. It was an instant success. I had found my niche in the game fish market. While still in school I applied to the late Florida Governor Lawton Chiles for a Pardon in order to restore my voting rights. Once that was granted, I applied for a Presidential Pardon from the President of the United States. On December 11, 2007, five years after applying, I received a call from the United States Pardon Attorney, wishing me a "Merry Christmas on behalf of The President of the United States. I had been granted a full pardon by President George W. Bush. Our current corporate client list includes Bass Pro Shops, Coastal Conservation Association - Florida and Texas, Florida Game and Fish Commission, American Products Group, Tempress (Custom Cooler Seat Cushion designs), Tervis Tumber, Texas Parks and Wildlife, and The National Rifle Association. Private Commissions are always welcome. I specialize in custom boat and game fish illustrations.

John Yeackle, a watercolor artist, acquired a love for Florida's outdoors while growing up on a relatively unexplored Wekiva River. During a 10-year career as a microbiologist in Alabama he took up art as a hobby, then began to work full-time at it when he returned to Florida. Now living in Seminole County, Yeackle won three "Best of Show" awards in 1989. Price range for his prints is $55-$125, originals are valued up to $6,500 prior to his death in 2011. Yeackle's work can be seen at the Art-Lando Gallery in downtown Orlando.

Amber M. Moran is a watercolor and ink artist residing in Hobe Sound, Florida, home to some of the most beautiful natural areas in the state. Amber is a watercolor and ink artist whose artistic style of "Thinking out of the box" creates a unique "window" and colorful take on the Florida lifestyle. She gains inspiration from the sights and sounds, including the beaches, canals and nearby fishing villages. She draws the viewer into each painting so they feel as if they are swimming in the coral with the fish, canoeing under the cypress trees, and hearing the sounds blowing through the palm trees. A regional, national and international award-winning artist, Amber's distinct style and riotous colors share her passion for coastal conservation. "I have always felt very passionate about color and detail." Amber attended SUNY Alfred State where she earned her Computer Art and Design degree. She continued on to the University at Buffalo and earned her Bachelors in Studio Art. Amber then earned her Master's degree in General Education as a Graduate Assistant at Elmira College in New York State. In 2015 Amber was in the top five of the Next Bealls Florida Artist Competition and in 2016 she partnered with Bealls Florida and created numerous fine art designs for men and women's apparel, home goods and accessories. She has been published many times in the Marlin International Magazine and was the Billfish Foundation 2015 Featured Artist of the Year. She has been the featured poster artist for the juried ArtiGras Fine Art Festival, Hobe Sound Festival of the Arts, the Stuart ArtsFest and the 2020 Cedar Key, Old Florida Festival of the Arts. She has created designs for well-known sport fishing tournaments such as the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament in Morehead City, NC and the Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic in Destin, FL. She has designed the Annual Martin County Lionfish Round-Up designs each year from the tournaments beginning 9 years ago. Amber's artwork hangs proudly on walls all over the United States and internationally. Amber's passion for coastal conservation not only enhances her art, but also encourages her and her husband's two Florida born boys to care for and protect our wildlife and marine environment.
