Singer-songwriter Katie Dahl has performed her original songs everywhere from the dusty cliffs of Mali, to the winding canals of southern France, to the cedar forests of the American northwoods. Particularly well-respected on her home turf of Door County, Wisconsin, Katie tours regularly and has earned accolades nationwide for the depth and power of her alto voice, the literate candor of her songs, and the easy humor of her live performances.

Although Memphis musician Eric Lewis is best known as an award-winning multi-instrumentalist, he is also a gifted artist who's been exploring his artistic side more often as of late.

This piece, inspired by music and nature, is 18"x24" and set over denim in a rustic frame. The work itself is on paper using water color pens and pencils, graphite pencils, and ink pens. Charles Fraser has worked as a professional improviser with Walt Disney Entertainment as well as the Brave New Workshop, ComedySportz, and Valleyfair Amusement Park. He is also the creator of Time of Your Life, a full-length improvised musical based on an audience member's life. As an actor, he has performed throughout Minneapolis and Saint Paul, Minnesota, with the Guthrie Theater, Ordway Center for the Performing Arts, History Theatre, Park Square Theatre, Theatre de la Jeune Lune, Playwrights' Center, and Illusion Theatre, among others. Charles is a member of Actors' Equity Association and the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists.

Door Shakespeare's new office has wonderful space for the box office, administrative offices, and even a rehearsal Hall! But we need to add a space for costume storage. Tonight we are hoping to raise $6000 to build a storage building fit for a King ('s costumes). It'll keep them clean, dry, and mouse free, ready for the next monarch.

We currently have raised $0 towards our goal for the costume storage Building.

As you step into the new Door Shakespeare office, imagine walking or rolling up to a professionally made, artisan designed counter. You will be greeted by our interns at this super-efficient workspace designed and built by Jillaine and Andrew (Burton) Seefeldt of Woodwalk Gallery.

A step up from our curbside finds of the past, this counter will be the design feature of our new offices.

We are in the development stage of the design process. The pictures illustrate the features we are looking for, but not the exact design of the custom piece.

A donor has stepped forward to add a kitchen to our new office space, but we are looking to upgrade our refrigerator and add a stove.

We know you love our cookies: chocolate chip, cherry granola, oatmeal or molasses. We bake 'em all on the day of show, with freshly frozen dough from Sunflower bakery in Sturgeon Bay.

The refrigerator we have is small, with a freezer section encapsulated within the unit: not the most efficient way to go. In addition to storing some of our concession items and wine for Wine Nights, we use our fridge to store staff lunches and snacks for our actors when we're in rehearsal.

I still get a thrill from pulling a woodchip out of my sneaker mid winter! ...memories of a summer at Door Shakespeare. Mmmm.

Have you noticed? There are two types of wood chips at Door Shakespeare: "regular" chips line the path to the stage, but a special kind of chip surrounds the performance area. Dark brown in color, we love to hear the interns shout, "the chocolate chippers are here!" It means opening night is just around the corner.

Author Ann Heyse lives in Baileys Harbor, Wisconsin where she never tires of the changing beauty of Door County. Framed photograph by the prestigious White Studio (photographer of early Broadway productions) of the 1920 Broadway hit, Tickle Me.

Tickle Me was only the third show for young Oscar Hammerstein II, who wrote the book and lyrics. Less than 10 years later, he would write the book and lyrics for Show Boat, and then the hits kept coming with Oklahoma, Carousel, Allegro, The King and I, South Pacific, and many other classics.

The music was written by Herbert B. Stothart, who went on to write the music for Rose-Marie.

The show was produced by Arthur Hammerstein, Oscar's uncle (see, it is always who you know!)

It ran from August 17, 1920 - February 12, 1921 at Broadway's Selwyn Theatre, 227 W. 42nd St., New York, New York. The Selwyn Theatre was built in 1918, with a seating capacity of 740.

Musical numbers included Ceremony of the Sacred Bath (specialty dance number) and Broadway Swell & Bowery Burn (that was the big closing number). Then, of course, there is the song Tickle Me.

THE WHITE STUDIO

From 1905 to 1925 White Studio was Broadway's foremost photographer of stage production. Founded by New York saloonkeeper Luther S. White (1857-1936), this photographic agency employed a series of cameramen from 1903 to 1936, who recorded hundreds of performers and thousands of productions of the American stage. The Studio was divided into two operations: the portrait studio located on Broadway and a mobile team of production photographers who hauled lights, tripods, and cumbersome Agfa and Kodak plate cameras to the dress rehearsals for stage pictures.

For much White Studio's history, George Lucas was chief stage photographer. Lucas revolutionized production photography with the introduction of flash-pan photography, a method of illumination safer than 'flash-light' (magnesium powder, alcohol, ignited by blow torch) used by Joseph Byron, the chief stage photographer on Broadway from 1893 to 1905, before the ascendency of White Studios

Our New Rehearsal Hall in our New Offices has great access to kitchen and washroom facilities through two double door entry and exit ways. Challenge? There are no doors on the passages.

To reduce sound interference during rehearsal and box office hours, our last fundraising initiative is to raise funds to add doors to the Rehearsal Hall.
