VIRTUAL CONCERT FAQs

WHY IS THIS EVENT VIRTUAL?
Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, Stamford Symphony is not presenting any live concerts or events this fall. Although most of our musicians have not been able to work since March, the music does not stop. Stamford Symphony is bringing our community together by making the Gala Concert available to all, free of charge. However, we are fundraising to be able to offer more virtual concerts featuring more of our musicians online in the near future.

WHY IS THE GALA CONCERT FREE?
In a typical year, our Gala concert would be ticketed. This year, we are asking for those of you who might have been interested in attending the Gala to please consider a gala sponsorship. With your generous contribution, Stamford Symphony will be able to provide music to everyone virtually and free of charge. We believe that music can heal in times of stress and our goal is not to limit who can access the music but to share it with everyone in the community, and indeed around the world, who need it right now.

WHAT TIME DOES THE EVENT START?
The silent auction will open on October 8 2020, and close at 9:15 pm on Saturday, October 24, 2020
The Virtual Gala Concert will begin streaming at 7:30 pm sharp on Saturday, October 24 and the event will be 90 minutes long.

"Doors" open online at 7:15 pm. Please log into the event before 7:30 pm in order to enjoy the full concert. There will not be the opportunity to rewind and watch the event at your own time. But if you do miss the beginning, keep an eye out on email, as we will be re-broadcasting the event in the future.

HOW DO WE WATCH THE EVENT?
All pre-registered guests will receive an email reminder the day of the event with a direct link to watch the concert. If you cannot find your email, no worries - just check back on our website and there will be a link for the event on October 24, 2020.

HOW DO I PRE-REGISTER FOR THE FREE EVENT?
Pre-registration is easy! Click to PRE REGISTER

WHAT TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS DO I NEED?
A computer with a reliable wifi network is all you should need. We recommend an Internet speed of 50 MBPS for optimal viewing.

Want to cast your event on TV? This is doable with an HDMI cord from your computer to the TV.

GALA DONATIONS FAQs

HOW IS THIS FUNDRAISER DIFFERENT FROM EVENTS THAT I AM USED TO?
While we cannot be together live, we hope that this event provides a festive backdrop for all our gala guests to make a night of it in their own homes.  Dress up in your favorite glitzy black-tie outfit or enjoy the evening in your PJs. This virtual event will consist of a night filled with fantastic music to enjoy with special guest artists and our Stamford Symphony musicians on location in your community. The event will also include a silent auction, paddle raises and opportunities to donate.

I AM A SPONSOR, HOW CAN I MAKE THIS GALA EVENT MORE FESTIVE?
Consider inviting your close friends who you would have shared a table with at the Gala to your home if this is something you are comfortable doing!  Alternatively, you can host a Zoom cocktail hour with your friends the hour before the start of the performance and provide a link for all your friends in the "chat" function so that all your guests can easily link directly to the concert after enjoying the cocktail hour.

Additionally, Gala sponsors can create their own personal fundraising page to encourage their friends to donate directly to Stamford Symphony. It's so easy to create your own personal page from the BECOME A GALA CHAMPION section on the event page.

Regardless of how you choose to celebrate this event, showing your enthusiasm, passion and commitment to the Symphony is the best way to help the Symphony grow its exposure and audience. Thank you for all you do,

WHAT ELSE DO SPONSORS ENJOY?
All sponsors of the Gala will be invited to a VIP Zoom event on October 19 at 6:30 pm that will be hosted by our newly appointed music director, Michael Stern. Mix and mingle with other sponsors, get access to exclusive musical content just for donors, take part in a Q&A with Michael Stern and enjoy a cocktail demonstration of the Gala signature cocktail by Flinders Lane Kitchen and Bar.

I AM NOT ABLE TO SPONSOR BUT I DO WANT TO BE SUPPORTIVE. WHAT CAN I DO?
Stamford Symphony is offering many ways to give. You may simply donate to the Gala concert directly from the event page  or you can create your own personal fundraising page that you can share with your friends.  You can also browse our silent auction and start bidding on some of the great items we have! Additionally, during the Gala concert, we will be having a paddle raise for certain initiatives.  Bidding on silent auction items or paddle raises are very easy to do from the DONATE/BID section of the event page.

HOW DO I BID ON A SILENT AUCTION ITEM?
Bidding is easy. The silent auction link will go live on October 8. All you need to do is be registered through Givesmart to begin bidding.  You will be notified via text message on your smartphone and by email once bidding begins.  You can bid from your phone, tablet or computer.  Creating an account is free and easy. Set it up now by clicking SIGN IN/REGISTER on the Event Page.

HOW WILL I PICK UP AN AUCTION ITEM I WON?
Stamford Symphony will be communicating with all auction winners to confirm pick-up, delivery or shipment of your winning item.

CAN I PARTICIPATE IN THE AUCTION IF I DON'T LIVE IN FAIRFIELD COUNTY?
Yes!  Anyone can participate in the silent auction.  If you win a physical item, we will work with you on the best way to get it delivered to you.
