These three big reds will dazzle your palate and delight your friends:

2014 Storybook Mountain Vineyards Zinfandel, Napa Estate grown, scored 92 points from Wine & Spirits. Winemaker notes: This special barrel selection showcases how elegant, fragrant and balanced Napa hillside Zinfandels can be. Berries with hints of flowers, minerals and spice in the aroma; multi-layered and rich flavor on the broad and supple middle palate; and an intense, clean and lingering impression on the finish. From W&S: The floral freshness of the fruit from their east-facing vines in the Mayacamas hills, with a little viognier blended in, take this bright, lively wine into notes of hibiscus, beeswax and the sweet herbal spice of basil.

2014 Chappellet Signature Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, scored a 95 from Wilfred Wong and 94 points from Robert Parker. This classic expression of hillside Napa Cabernet, blended with diminishing amounts of Petit Verdot, Malbec, Cab Franc and Merlot, offers aromas of boysenberry, black currant, and dark chocolate, as well as subtle layers of sweet oak, savory herbs, and fresh-roasted coffee. On the palate, ripe fruit and plush, radiant tannins create a velvety mouthfeel and an almost liqueur-like richness that carries through to a long, lingering finish. The Wine Advocate advises, "Look for it to evolve graciously for another 20+ years."

2012 David Girard Vineyards Coda Rouge, El Dorado - Estate Vineyard: The winemaker's flagship red wine is a barrel selection of estate-grown lots that have been aged separately for 18 months and are blended together just before bottling. Reflecting the southern Rhone focus of their Estate, the blend can change composition depending on the vintage. 2012 relies heavily on Syrah. It's darker fruit and tobacco notes form the core of the wine. Brightness is brought out by the higher-toned Grenache, and Mourvèdre layers in an earthy, savory note which adds complexity.
