The New York Appeal for Australian Bushfires is centered around a specially curated online auction consisting of generously donated prize experiences from home grown and international brand partners. In addition, we are hosting a one-time fundraiser event at The Flower Shop in NYC including a tasting menu, drinks and special giveaways.
The 2019-20 Australian bushfire season is of notable intensity compared to previous seasons as it has burned an estimated 18.6 million hectares (46 million acres; 186,000 square kilometres; 72,000 square miles), destroyed over 5,900 buildings (including approximately 2,683 homes) and killed at least 29 people as of 14 January 2020. An estimated one billion animals have also been killed and some endangered species may be driven to extinction. These devastating bushfires continue to ravage the continent and are regarded by some as the worst in memory.
