Your donation for $200 will allow one class to participate in one of WAVE Foundation's NEW Distance Learning programs utilizing the Zoom platform. You can choose a classroom to participate or WAVE can choose one for you. All programs are live for one hour with a WAVE Educator and include videos of our animals, sharing artifacts (shark teeth, penguin feathers, etc.), as well as opportunities for guests to ask questions.

Choose from the following topics:

SCIENCE OF SHARKS
The Science of Sharks program will connect you with a keystone species in our ocean ecosystems. In addition to live sharks, several animal bio facts are used in this presentation including shark jaws, a can of shark fin soup, shark eggs, and more.

VIRTUAL STINGRAY STUDIES
Rays are closely related to sharks but their dramatically different body form has many advantages. We will explore these differences and how this group is able to thrive in the ocean.

VIRTUAL PENGUINS: AQUATIC FLIERS
During this presentation, participants will learn about these incredible animals, including their natural history, geography, diet, predators, and WAVE Foundation's research and conservation initiatives.

VIRTUAL SCALES & TAILS
This program will cover the animal's natural histories, including basic facts, adaptations and specialized features these animals display to succeed in the wild. We will talk about lizards, snakes, turtles and tortoises. We encourage questions about these amazing animals!

VIRTUAL CROC TALK
Learn what it means to be a reptile and have an in-depth conversation about Crocodilians: crocodiles, alligators, gharials, and caimans. Discover the differences between each species and in the end be able to tell them apart with just a glance! A number of crocodilian skull replicas and artifacts will be presented.

VIRTUAL TURTLE TIME

Can you tell the difference between a turtle and a tortoise? In this program, we discuss the differences between turtles and tortoises, and share some simple conservation practices that you can do to help protect these amazing animals! You will learn about three different turtle and tortoise species.

Our Animal Adoption program makes a great gift for adults and children and helps support the WAVE Foundation's efforts in conservation, education and volunteer opportunities! Adoption dollars are vital to the success of WAVE Foundation's unique programs.

Your adoption will include a 5×7 photo of your adopted animal, Adoption Certificate, Animal Fact Sheet, Website Recognition, Subscription to WAVE Newsletter, Plushy of Adopted Animal, WAVE Tumbler Cup, WAVE Aquatic Conservation Tote Bag and a 5×7 Penguin Painting.

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic and the new public health guidelines, and in an effort to ensure the best and safest experience for participants, WAVE Foundation has made the decision to offer Virtual Summer Adventures in place of in-person Summer Camps.

Get ready to dive into the deep and make some waves with WAVE's Virtual Summer Adventures! Students will have two live, interactive sessions each day from 10-11 a.m. and 12-1 p.m. on the Zoom platform with a break for lunch in between. Outside of these live sessions, additional independent activities will be available on the Seesaw platform for more exploration! Provided with an 'Adventure Pack' of needed materials, Virtual Adventurers will do hands-on science experiments, participate in animal encounters, meet scientists, make crafts, and play games while learning about the amazing aquatic world. We welcome Adventurers that just finished grades K-8. More details for online platforms will be sent upon completing and reviewing your registration.

You may indicate a child you would like to attend or WAVE Foundation will choose a child for you.

Help support African Penguin rehabilitation by purchasing an artificial nest that will meet all the requirements of a perfect penguin penthouse.

WHY DO WE NEED TO PROVIDE ARTIFICIAL NESTS?

Before the advent of artificially produced fertilizer, guano was considered a top-quality fertilizer rich in nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium. Guano was scraped from the penguin breeding islands. Penguins used to build their nests by burrowing into the thick layers of guano. This "forced removal" from well protected, temperature-controlled burrows to open surface nests, exposed the African Penguin to the harsh African heat and occasional flooding the "open-plan" living arrangement turned their eggs and chicks into an easy meal for predators like gulls & skuas. Providing artificial next boxes gives penguins a safe environment to live and reproduce.
