Traumatic Brain Injury Program (TBI)
Blythedale is a longtime leader in the treatment of children recovering from traumatic and acquired brain injury. Central to the program is the Hospital's Traumatic Brain Injury Unit, the only dedicated post-acute pediatric brain injury unit in New York State. The TBI Unit is equipped with rooms designed to provide the low-stimulation environment needed by patients recovering from brain injury, as well as dedicated space for occupational, physical and speech therapy.
Blythedale also collaborates on research with the Burke Neurological Institute to develop new and improved treatments for children with neurological impairments at Blythedale and beyond. Despite significant medical conditions, nearly all of our children are able to return to their families and communities.
