Provide a semester of TOP for an entire classroom! 25 middle school youth participate weekly in engaging curriculum, build teamwork skills, and engage in service to their community - all supported by the fantastic Wyman staff.
The focus is on helping students to feel connected and develop a sense of purpose and the skills they need to become thriving adults.
Weekly lessons are interactive, engaging, inclusive, and relevant to teens - emotion management, problem solving, goal setting, health and wellness -- and reach beyond the classroom giving students the skills they need to avoid risky behaviors and progress in school.
While school environments have been in a state of continuous change, Wyman's TOP facilitators have been a constant and reliable presence for students -- positively impacting student, their families and the culture of the entire school.
Support 4 youth - a high school freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior - in the Wyman Leaders program for a full year - deep and powerful summer experiences and school-year coaching and support across the whole range of high school grade levels!
Wyman Leaders combines the fun of traditional summer camp and exciting outdoor recreational activities with leadership development, support creating a path to post-secondary options after high school, and building of essential life skills.
The program serves students consistently and over time -- staying with them through their high school and college years.
It is a year-round program that provides opportunities for teens to connect with their peers, excel at school, give back to their communities and have fun!
When Wyman empowers leadership in the teens we serve, it is not just about being leaders when they become adults...its about being leaders right now.
$7500 will fund summer salaries for 3 older youth in the program to work and gain valuable experience as coaches and mentors for younger Wyman Leaders.
Young people in the Wyman Leaders program tell us that connecting with older youth in the program is a powerful part of their experience-they love sharing and learning from their older peers. Hiring our experienced, older participants to work with the younger teens benefits everyone!
Ensure our staff and teens have all the supplies and technology they need for virtual AND in-person programming experiences in 2021.
From books to paint to sleeping bags to team building supplies to laptops and apps, your donation ensures staff have the variety of supplies necessary to run creative, impactful and fun programs.
And, that they have the flexibility to ensure Wyman is there for young people whether we need to serve them virtually or are able to connect in-person.
In the second half of 2021, Wyman is hopeful that we can support families and students to visit our partner schools - Missouri State University, Southeast Missouri State University, University of Central Missouri - as well as St. Louis area schools.
It takes a lot to provide these opportunities and your gift can help with the transportation and food costs for these important college visits.
The challenges of educational inequity are real. Every day they strip talented and capable students of hope and the opportunity to attend college and pursue the career of their choice.
Wyman is committed to supporting students in removing these barriers and seeing the opportunities. College tours are an important way students begin to experience what is next for them.
Help us provide powerful service learning experiences for our teens through your gift.
Community service learning is a powerful way to engage our students. It supports young people in developing a sense of purpose and pride in contributing to their communities.
So often young people are an undervalued resource. Service learning provides students with the opportunities to use the skills they are developing in programs and provides a meaningful contribution in their own neighborhoods.
Students have worked with a local artist to create a mural for their school lobby (pictured), helped to clean up a local historic cemetery, visited older adults at a local senior center, and made PB&J sandwiches at a food pantry.
Each school year young people in Wyman's programs contribute more than 20,000 hours of service learning in St. Louis.
Moments ago, you saw Brandi and Marnee talking around a campfire at our beautiful Eureka camp. Camp is a special place. Camp provides powerful and transformative experiences for young people to connect, challenge themselves, learn and have fun.
Your gift of $500.00 will help us to reopen Camp following the pandemic and have it ready, safe and welcoming for young people this summer.
We are excited to open the camp for summer and for the return of students for safe, in-person programming! We need your help to prepare cabins and program spaces, ensure trails are clear and safe, get the kitchen ready to prepare favorite camp foods, and have the campfire sites "s'mores ready"!
Help Wyman staff send care packages to our students during their post-secondary studies.
Who doesn't love to receive cards and gifts in the mail -- especially when you are away from home!
Many students in the Wyman Leaders program will be the first in their families to attend college. While we provide all the coaching and support to help them persist in their post-secondary endeavors, we also want to make sure that they know we care.
Wyman care packages ensure they feel the connection and support from afar!
$100 provides 2 hours of coaching or program facilitation from dedicated, passionate, and highly-trained adults who are experts in youth development.
You've heard themes throughout the evening of strong adult relationships and support for young people. Wyman staff listen, empathize, and encourage in such a way that the teens can learn, grow, enjoy, and indeed, thrive in this critical time of their development. They are the "secret sauce" to the programs.
At Wyman, we believe that every teen has talent and potential, needs healthy connections and deserves equitable opportunities.
