Food, family and Philadelphia are the first three things that come to mind when trying to describe who I am or what I'm about. Hello. My name is Jared Johnson and I am the Executive Chef and Food Services Manager at the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House.

Born and raised in Lansdowne, PA into a large, multi-ethnic family, the kitchen was the central location in my house growing up. My mom and grandmother made everything from scratch. I could see firsthand and from an early age the process of producing great meals and the way it brought us all together. In addition to the food prep I learned about gardening and the value of fresh ingredients. Food preservation was also an important component of my childhood; methods of pickling, canning and smoking helped us enjoy the fruits of spring and summer well into the colder months of fall and winter.

I started working in restaurants at 15. By the time I finished high school I was already a seasoned line cook and had also learned the art of pizza making. Rather than going off to college, I attended the "School of Hard Knocks" working in various restaurants in and around the city continuing to hone my craft and learn new techniques. At 25, I took a position as a production chef doing corporate catering for several Center City law firms and from there my career really took off. In 2003 I started my own boutique catering company with my wife, Denise. After 7 years we sold the company and made our way back to Philadelphia to start a new chapter. In 2012 I was named Executive Chef for the STARR Restaurant Group facilitating world class events in some of Philadelphia's most prestigious and storied cultural institutions. While with STARR I spent a great deal of time mentoring Philadelphia's under-served youth with culinary aspirations through a non-profit organization called C-CAP (Careers through Culinary Arts Program). While working with these budding culinarians I realized that I could use my years of experience and advanced skill set to give something back to the community. This growing passion to give led me to RMHC of the Philadelphia Region where they were undergoing a huge renovation and needed a chef to develop and run their food service program; caring for and feeding more than 100 families with seriously ill children, 365 days a year. It seemed like a match made in heaven and now with 18 months under my belt I can honestly say that coming to be a part of RMHC was the best move of my career!

I am thrilled to have found a home at Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Philadelphia Region. This is a dream job! Coach Fran Dunphy Biography:

Fran Dunphy Former Basketball Head Coach Temple University Francis J. Dunphy has been a part of collegiate basketball for six decades. He started as a student-athlete playing basketball for La Salle University, co-captaining the team his senior year. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1970, and his first coaching position was as an enlisted assistant coach at the United States Military Academy. From 1975-79, he served as an accounting teacher, guidance counselor and head basketball coach at his high school alma mater, Malvern Preparatory School. In 1979, he was named assistant coach at La Salle, and one year later he joined the coaching staff at American University. He returned to La Salle in 1985 until 1988 when he went to the University of Pennsylvania. In 1989, he was named head coach at Penn, where he led the team to 10 Ivy League titles in his 17 years there. In 2006, Dunphy became the first person to serve as a head basketball coach at two Philadelphia Big 5 institutions when he was named head coach at Temple University, succeeding Hall of Fame coach John Chaney. Dunphy, known as "Mr. Big 5", has worked at or attended four of the Big 5 schools. At Temple, Dunphy had a successful tenure, including being named Big 5 Coach of the Year in five of his 13 seasons and Conference Coach of the Year four times. In 2018, he was awarded the national Dean Smith Award. In 2019, he won the Temple University honors Professor of the Year and received an honorary degree from Temple and the Gene Bartow Award. A beloved professor in the Fox School of Business for the past 12 years, Dunphy has co-taught an honors course entitled Management, Theory & Practice: From the Locker Room to the Board Room, in which he teaches students the importance of management skills and integrity. John LeClair Biography:

John LeClair is an American former professional ice hockey player who played 16 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Montreal Canadiens, Philadelphia Flyers, and Pittsburgh Penguins. Dr. John Maris is Giulio D'Angio Professor of Pediatrics in the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. He is a physician-scientist who has focused for over three decades on the childhood cancer neuroblastoma with the dual goals of improving patient outcomes and also using the disease as a model to understand cancer in general. His group has discovered all of the known neuroblastoma susceptibility genes and his group has also identified many of the oncogenic drivers of the disease. Dr. Maris has steadfastly sought to translate these discoveries to the clinic using precision medicine approaches and more recently by co-leading a multi-institutional St. Baldrick's Foundation-Stand Up to Cancer Pediatric Cancer Dream Team project to bring the fields of genomics and immunology together to combat childhood cancers, and more recently a Beau Biden Moonshot Center Award to extend this rapidly evolving area of research. Dr. Maris is an internationally recognized practicing pediatric oncologist who cares for children with refractory neuroblastoma from around the world, typically in the context of early phase clinical trials. Dr. Maris has been continuously funded by the National Institutes of Health and many other funding bodies. He currently holds a National Cancer Institute Outstanding Investigator Award and has received several prestigious awards including election into the American Society of Clinical Investigation, the Oski award for outstanding pediatric oncologists, and the Berwick award at Penn for melding basic and clinical teaching, and the William Osler Patient Oriented Research Award at Penn.

Jon Runyan Biography:

Jon Runyan is an American athlete (former Philadelphia Eagle) and politician who was the U.S. Representative for New Jersey's 3rd congressional district from 2011 to 2015. Before entering politics, he was an American football offensive tackle in the National Football League, where he played for 14 seasons. Jon holds 5th on the list of most consecutive starts in the NFL. He started in 193 games during his NFL career and 144 of these starts are with the Philadelphia Eagles. He was also a participant in the 2003 Pro Bowl following the 2002 NFL season.

Jon was drafted by the Houston Oilers in the fourth round of the 1996 NFL Draft and later played for the Philadelphia Eagles and San Diego Chargers. Runyan was the last active NFL player to have played for the Oilers. He played college football at Michigan where he was a 1995 All-Big Ten Conference selection. In high school, he had been an All-State (Michigan) selection in basketball and two-time state champion shot putter. He retired at the end of the 2009 NFL season and launched his campaign for Congress against incumbent freshman Democrat John Adler, winning the general election on November 2, 2010.

Beginning in 2016, Runyan became the Vice President of the Policy and Rules Administration for the NFL.

Loretta Runyan Biography:

Loretta Runyan is the wife of former NFL player Jon Runyan. She has 3 children, Jon Runyan Jr., Bella, and Alyssa. Jon Jr. was drafted in April by the Greenbay Packers after a college football career at University of Michigan where his father played as well. Alyssa is a rising junior at Purdue University studying physical therapy and Bella is a 2020 high school graduate who will attend Villanova University this fall and participate in the women's basketball program.

Loretta served as a police officer in Houston, TX for 11 years and shined at the White House as a Congressional wife while Jon served 2 years as a member of Congress.

Loretta's son Jon Jr. was diagnosed from a young age with dyslexia and she dedicated many challenging years to working on his performance, and teaching him to have confidence in his abilities and skills. Her husband was also diagnosed with dyslexia and she knew that succeeding was possible but that it would take her being hands on, persistent and relentless to get him through this.

Kathy Killian Biography:

Kathy has worked for the Phillies for more than 32 years, and today is Vice President, Administration for an organization that has about 1,200 employees, including players and game-night workers.

She began a career at the Phillies through her time as a summer intern at The Steeles, a company that marketed postcards designed by Dick Perez, an artist who has worked for the Phillies and the Baseball Hall of Fame. Killian worked for the Steeles as a "Girl Friday" for about six months until Perez recommended her to Phillies executive Dave Montgomery, who brought her on board as an intern in the 1985 season.

Over the years with the Phillies, Kathy worked as a ticket sales representative and manager and director of group sales. In November 2008, right after the Phillies won the World Series, she was named to the newly created role of Vice President of Human Resources and Customer Services. She is the second female Vice President in franchise history, following Bonnie Clark, who became Vice President of Communications in April 2008.

Among her myriad accomplishments, Ms. Abraham was one of the first District Attorneys in the country to institute a thorough and comprehensive investigation of sexual abuse committed by Catholic Clergy in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. That investigation, lasting over 5 years, implicated at least two Cardinals and over 125 priests engaged in either sexual misconduct or sexual crimes against adolescents and youths of both genders in addition to the massive cover-up of these crimes by Archdiocesan Hierarchy. It has also been used as a template for similar investigations across the country.
