Join Mohonk Preserve's Research Ecologist Megan Napoli for a guided birding tour in the Mohonk Preserve Foothills. To take advantage of the spectacle that is spring migration, the tour should take place in mid-May, but timing can be adjusted to fit your schedule. Tour length: 2 - 4.5 miles, 2 - 3 hours. Continue up Lenape Lane through open grasslands and heritage farmhouses, past Duck Pond, and on to the majestic Sky Top Tower. Once there, you'll take in the views, rest a bit and head back down the ridge. Andrew will customize the route for you depending on time of year and desired difficulty level. You may even choose to brave the famous Lemon Squeeze ladder challenge on your way to Sky Top!

Here's your chance to experience first-hand what our land protection staff does to monitor the Preserve's boundaries. You and a friend will spend between a half and a full day with the Preserve's Land Project Manager, Ed Pestone as you learn how to navigate using a survey map and elements on the ground such as stone walls, hedgerows, fence lines and property blazes. You'll learn how to identify property corners, understand how property lines are signed (posting protocol), and use a mobile app for GPS. You'll go off trail and get to see hidden locations that others rarely visit - and all with a purpose!
