OUR IMPACT!
The mission of Breakthrough at Kent Denver is two-fold: first, to increase the educational and social opportunities of motivated, financially under-resourced, middle and high school students through a quality year-round program, and second, to motivate and train talented college students for careers in education.
Our Impact!
- In 2020, 75% of our graduating 2020 Teaching Fellows are pursuing careers in education
- In 2020 (for the ninth consecutive year) 100% of Breakthrough seniors graduated high school
- In 2020, 100% of Breakthrough graduates are pursuing a college degree
--> 12% of students have deferred enrollment because of COVID-19 to Spring or Fall 2021*
Our Community!
Students
- 384 Students served from Denver and Englewood Public Schools (184 Middle School & 200 High School )
- 90% Qualified for free or reduced lunch
- 94% Students of color
- 79% Will be first generation in their family to continue on to higher education
Teachers
- 30 Accepted Teaching Fellow positions (Only nine Teaching Fellows retained due to COVID-19)
- 75% Pursuing careers in education
- 44% Returning teachers
- 33% Breakthrough student alumni
- 62% Identified as people of color
