I was excited to participate in this project because I believe that art is a foundation of growth and expression for children. Exposure to art has been shown to drastically improve both mental health and overall physical well-being, in particular for those battling cancer. My hope is that this piece will be uplifting and will spark their own desire to create. Each individual heart was cut out of artwork painted by young artists from across the country. The bright colors, a staple in children's artwork, symbolize joy, life and energy. Each heart is unique and has its own perfectly different story, much like all children do.
