June 10 from 5:00-7:00 p.m.

Kathy & Nicholas Daum and Mitchell & Lizzie Schwartz invite you to

Join us for cocktails and noshes with Mary Nichols, TIOH grandparent, former Chair of the California Air Resources Board, and California's "Queen of Green." Mitchell Schwartz will host an informal conversation with Mary, with ample time for questions and socializing. The setting will be outdoors, socially safe, and comfortable.

As California goes, so does the nation. It's a saying that rings ever more true and in the case of environmental policy, we Californians can claim that "as California goes, so does the world." What are the roots of CA's environmental leadership? What direction are we headed in as Californians and as Americans? And what can we do as individuals to make meaningful progress in the fight against climate change?

At a private home in Hancock Park. Address will be provided to paid attendees.

*As chair of the California Air and Resources Board, (1975-82, 2007-20, Mary Nichols led Ca's leading battle to cut smog and carbon emissions, enacting the first comprehensive cap on industrial greenhouse gas emissions by any major regulatory agency in the world. Nichols and CARB also crafted and enforced regulations that slashed air pollution from cars and light trucks by over 99%, paved the way for a new generation of advanced biofuels, and created the roadmap for a transition to a fully electrified transportation system. Nichols now is a professor at UCLA Law School, holds visiting appointments at Columbia and Cornell, and serves as Vice-Chair of the China-California Climate Center and Co-Chair of the Commission on the Future of Mobility.
