Fund A Need Comp Sci
The Computer Science Department needs 1 subscription to Repl.it. Students would using Repl.it to code in multiple languages using Chromebook or other computers (1 license @ $1,000).
As of 5/14/21, $100 of the $1,000 needed has been funded.
This subscription would greatly facilitate the ability for students to code, especially at Northside where students use Chromebooks. The on-line nature of the service means no products or services need to be downloaded to a computer.
Repl.it allows users to start coding with their favorite language on any platform, OS, and device. The service allows users to invite friends, teammates, and colleagues right into your code. Editing is done in Google-doc like manner. These features all provide for improved team productivity with interactive docs, real-time collaboration, and no-hassle remote interviewing.
The Computer Science Department needs 2 cyber:bot Robot Sets. Students will use these sets to learn physical computing and cybersecurity as a part of the media computation classes (2 @ $3,795 each).
As of 5/15/21, $1,930 has been funded towards the $7,590 needed.
Designed to add a hardware dimension to Python-focused computer science, CTE, and cybersecurity programs, the cyber:bot is a joint project between Parallax and NICERC, the National Integrated Cyber Education Research Center.
Each cyber:bot pack contains 12 robot sets. Each set includes (1) cyber:bot robot kit with micro:bit, plus their three most popular hardware accessories for additional activities. The cyber:bot 12-pack Plus is a one-box solution for implementing Python programming, robotics and other STEM topics in the classroom. The robots are designed to be beginner-friendly and engaging, using real-world electronics to build transferable skills.
