The Music Department needs 6 Eastman Electro-Acoustic Violas. Students will use these violas in classical music, as well as other music genres (6 @ $805 each).
As of 5/14/21, $805 of the $4,830 needed has been funded.
Electro-Acoustic instruments provide students a holistic string playing experience. They can experience the traditional classical canon, as well as other styles and approaches, including composition, looping, improvisation, playing rock, blues, jazz, bluegrass, etc.
Eastman has released its new Electro Acoustic instrument line, designed to deliver the warm resonance of an acoustic with the convenience of built-in amplification. The pickup is hidden underneath the varnish of the instrument, and the 3.5mm jack is fashioned as the end button on violins and violas. Players thus have the option of performing on an instrument that feels like a traditional acoustic while also having the ability to explore amplified possibilities.
