Sem;colon is a storytelling event.
Ten individuals will share their stories. Fellow fighters and allies will fill the room. As these storytellers release their vulnerability, the audience will learn to empathize. We will combat stigma by showing the prevalence of mental illness. Local support groups will host tables to educate bout free resources for individuals struggling.
All proceeds for this event will go to support the Centerstone Crisis and Suicide Prevention Programs. This includes specialized services for adults, children and those with intellectual or developmental disabilities. Our crisis counselors work 24/7- 365 days a year to provide emergency care, both in person and through the crisis line, to those who are at risk of harming themselves and others. These skilled counselors and volunteers also work to connect those in crisis with local resources for longer term care.
Centerstone operates our areas only accredited Crisis Call line that fields over 64,000 calls yearly, and performs workshops and training throughout the community. This outreach is done to help break the stigma surrounding mental health and educate community members on the signs of someone in crisis. Awareness and education saves lives.
Sem;colon is presented by the Centerstone Ambassador Council.
