The NYPD invites you and a guest to take a tour of Police Headquarters, experience an in-depth presentation & tour of the Department's Joint Operations Center, and spend time with the Chief of Patrol. The Joint Operations Center is where events across the city are coordinated and planned with representatives from every major law enforcement agency in the area. You'll also have a chance to observe the Department's technological resources that help solve crimes every day and a behind-the-scenes look at how this technology is utilized. Then, spend some time with the NYPD's Chief of Patrol, Rodney Harrison. The Patrol Services Bureau is the largest and most visible bureau in the NYPD, overseeing the majority of the department's uniformed officers on patrol. This experience will give you a first-hand look at a day in the life of one of the highest ranking and most visible members of New York's Finest, including how the department responds to over 10,000 calls for service every day.
The helmet that firefighters and police officers wear not only keeps them safe, but is a visible symbol that members of the FDNY, NYPD, and PAPD have arrived and are ready to help. Following the attacks on the World Trade Center on 9/11, the FDNY commissioned a helmet that would honor the 343 FDNY members who perished on that tragic day and it remains an enduring symbol of their supreme sacrifice. The FDNY generously donated a 343 helmet to be included in tonight's auction. The NYPD and PAPD also each generously donated a special helmet unique to their departments. All three helmets serve as a reminder to us of the dangers that face our first responders. This is your opportunity to honor all our heroic first responders: those who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our city and those who continue to keep our city safe.
