Perfect Storm - oil
20"W x 24"L
"Faith McLaughlin, known artistically as Mei Mei, is a 22 year old artist based in Tampa, FL. She has earned a BA in Studio Art from the University of South Florida along with a Certificate in Art History. Adopted from China as an infant into an Irish-American family, she has struggled to identify with eastern and western culture because of the cultural and physical dissonance. Due to this struggle, she feels highly influenced by western culture, but tries to connect with her Chinese background despite the American veil placed over her. She states, "over the past decade, my work has continued to develop and explore the concepts of tradition, identity, and symbolism. Maintaining a balance between realism and painterly qualities allows the viewer to see my work as it is-a painting. I strive to initiate a conversation about perception and identification by creating self-reflective works through traditional compositions."

A World Gone Mad
I am Aesthetic on the edge. Artist. Curator. Designer. Writer. Actor. A self taught artist with the agenda to create. Spontaneous in the execution of my creative inspiration I am motivated in a pure process. It is through humor, pathos, social commentary, nature, and beauty my vision and relevances take root. Like the caveman I simply leave my mark! It is through abstract and representational styles I integrate a fusion of my content and structure seemingly without technique. "Gentle in form and inspired by nature, his paintings reveal a new reality created through a combination of delicate lines and equally disturbing spots. His is a daunting world that astonishes and evokes a sense of mystery instead of suggesting an explanation." Anna Krowplewske, Curator, City Museum, Toru?, Poland. I was born on the sunny shores of the Gulf of Mexico inTampa, FL, raised in a subculture of Spanish, Italian, Cuban, and Mexican. Colorful. Festive. Loving. For 4 years I attended the University of South Florida majoring in Liberal Arts and Psychology which layered the foundation for my creative life. Since 2014 my international travels and exhibitions have placed my work in acquisitions in museums and important collections in India, Tunisia, Poland, Turkey, South Korea, and the USA. Through my art I find I am sentimental and unwavering in my dedication to the creative experience of an artistic life. "Let each man [woman] exercise the art that he [she] knows. " ARISTOPHANES

Becoming - teal/lavender/gold leaf circular pattern
24"W x 36"L
My name is Michelle Dubois. I was born in Queens, NY, but have resided in the Tampa Bay area for the majority of my life. I've always been a creative - whether it be singing, acting, crafting, illustrating, makeup artistry, painting, etc. Only within the last few years have I discovered my love and gift of creating abstract art (in both painting and sketching). It's been a long time coming, but I believe our talents, gifts and abilities are revealed to us at different times in our lives - when we need it most and often through the unexpected - never late and always on time. I am self-taught. A lot of my art is intuitive and contains some type of florals and/or foliage. My choice of mediums are watercolor, acrylic and ink; I often use the three of them together. My go-to tool is almost always a palette knife. This is my second year participating in the Art Ties Us contest, and with how much I've grown since last year, I cannot wait to see how it comes out on canvas this year!

Elephant Love - 2 paintings (Set)
24"W x 24"L
I am a professional artist, illustrator, muralist and lifelong resident of St. Pete. I have a B.A. degree in Fine Art and for the lasr 5 years I have been working from my studio at the Artlofts, which is located above the Florida Craft Art gallery in the heart of downtown St. Pete, in the Central Arts District.
I specialize in painting large, life-size animals or portraits, by comission, and last year I was asked by Busch Gardens of Tampa to do a series of 5 outdoor murals for the park. I have done several outdoor murals in St. Pete for local businesses, as well as several indoor murals for businesses and private homes.
I show my art regularly and also, along with my artist colleages co-host and curate community guest art shows and guest artist pop-up shows and events at the Artlofts studios.
I love to paint big and realistic but am also drawn to colorful, decorative art and consider it serendipitous when they both come together in my art. I am passionate about the St. Pete art community and strive to help promote and support the artists any way I can, whether through my social media groups (Artists of Tampa Bay, or Tampa Bay Artists) or hosting group shows in our studios to promote artists or simply attending their shows.
