ARTIST BIO:

With a modern twist, Fr�d�ric Bonin-Pissarro continues a long family tradition of fine arts, which began with his great-grandfather, Camille Pissarro, one of the original Impressionists. Born and raised in Paris, Fr�d�ric learned the art of painting from his father, Claude Bonin-Pissarro. After studying at �cole de S�vres and �cole nationale sup�rieure des Beaux-Arts, he settled in Cincinnati. There he taught color theory, character design, writing scenario, illustration, composition and layout at the Art Institute of Cincinnati and received the Key to the City in 2001. Fr�d�ric later received a B.A. and M.A., summa cum laude, from Morehead State University, where he also taught. He and his family currently reside in Las Vegas, NV where he is a professor in the art department at UNLV.

ARTIST: Diana Halligan

DESCRIPTION:

The inspiration for Floyd was Frank Lloyd Wright's stained glass designs, specifically, the dining room windows in the Dana-Thomas House in Springfield, IL. The design uses the same earth tone palette Wright used in his autumn sumac design with blue added to represent the color of the sky as seen through the windows. Floyd is a variant of Lloyd, originating from the Welsh name Llwyd.

ARTIST BIO:

Originally from England, Diana Halligan has drawn and painted since childhood. After a career in nursing career, which she continued when she resettled in Ohio, Diana's interest in fine arts led her to study at the Art Academy of Cincinnati. There she found her love of working with oils and studying the Old Masters. She continues to explore the visual arts as an independent photographer focusing on local musicians, and painting in oils.

DESCRIPTION:

Rabbits are funny little animals that often live right among us in our yards and neighborhoods, yet they somehow elude us. Whether sneaking into our gardens, jumping down rabbit holes, or trying to avoid being "wabbit" hunted, they nearly always manage to stay out of sight. While Harry may appear to be black and white, with closer inspection, there is much more going on. He is an optical illusion, capturing the idea that rabbits are always trying to trick us - maybe using some of their magician's magic.

ARTIST BIO:

Participating in Petcasso for the third year, Maddie Heinlen loves the outdoors and nature and this passion inspires much of her work. A lifelong resident of Cincinnati, she graduated from Walnut Hills High School in 2019 where she was able to cultivate her artistic ability. Maddie is now a freshman at Miami University where she is pursuing a major in Zoology and a minor in Studio Art with possible plans of becoming a medical or scientific illustrator. In the coming years, she plans to further expand herself and become a more well-established artist.

DESCRIPTION:

The inspiration for Vector Vixen was the mascot of Sweet Briar College, the alma mater of PIN Executive Director, Ann Hill. After a bit of research, Denyse began playing with the fun SBC color combination of hot pink, lime green, and navy blue with some silver added in. The result is a playful ombre pattern that perfectly covers every angle of the form. You don't need to be a Sweet Briar alum to enjoy this sweet little fox!

Gustav, the Wise Old Owl

ARTIST: Anne Huddleston

DESCRIPTION:

Gustav was inspired by the colorful, patterned motifs of Austrian artist, Gustav Klimt. The gold leaf mosaic, shimmering around the owl's luminous eyes and feet, is a nod to Klimt's "Golden Phase". He clings to a mound of foil-backed green tile "grass" peppered with Czechoslovakian copper-kissed pressed flowers and Italian millefiori glass flowers reminiscent of those in his 1907 portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer. His stomach is an iridescent cross pattern of diamonds interspersed with shimmering glass beads. Fanning his wings and back are ceramic glazed clay petals from Morocco. Crystal-cut beads add interest and mimic the style of mixing shape and pattern for which Klimt is known.

ARTIST BIO:

Anne currently works as a mixed media artist using various tiles, beads and semi-precious gemstones to make one-of-a-kind mosaic jewelry, gorgeous mosaic plexiglass flower and bird yard art and a variety of 3-dimensional animals. She has a long career in graphic and product design in the gift industry and as an illustrator for the children's market and greeting cards, winning several local poster competitions including one for her 2016 Summerfair poster. She also lived in China while working as an art director for 32 Chinese artists for China's largest gift manufacturer. Anne's work can be purchased at local craft shows, on her website, or as private commissions for mosaic life-size animals.

DESCRIPTION:

As a hair stylist, in addition to being an artist and painter, Doug wanted to incorporate a '60s hairstyle into his Painted Pet design. Through his searches on the internet, he came across pictures of Brigitte Bardot and her bikini - two iconic symbols of the era - and inspiration was born!

Instead of just painting cats and dogs, she portrayed the many ways they are a part of our everyday lives and why we love them so much. Taking bits and pieces from some of her earlier paintings, she created a fun and whimsical new design for this large, functional work of art.

Ten years later, Jamie is a widely-recognized artist, having won 17 awards and sold her work in all 50 states, Canada and 21 other countries! Overcoming a lack of confidence was such an amazing feeling but Jamie say that even more gratifying is being able to share her talent to make a difference in the world. Following her passion has allowed her to donate her work to raise more than $56,000 on behalf of animal welfare causes all over the world! (After working on the bench for 7 straight days, through hand cramps, multiple tubes of paint and 4 broken brushes, Jamie says it was totally worth it to help raise money for Pets In Need of Greater Cincinnati.)

These adorable Doxie book ends were inspired by one of Jamie's original paintings, "Books and Weenies". Of the donation requests she receives from all over the world, the most frequent are for artwork featuring Dachshunds. Named after the two parts of a skeleton key, the blade shaft and the ornate bow, the Blade and Bow brand is a tribute to the five keys that once hung on the door of the Stitzel-Weller Distillery. These keys represented the five steps of crafting bourbon-grains, yeast, fermentation, distillation, and aging. There is a key on a string on each bottle with each one having from 1 to 5 teeth on the blade.
