Carolyn Schultz Two Worlds
$130Carolyn Schultz: Meeting of Two Worlds
The winner will receive a hand-signed lithograph of Meeting of Two Worlds (1979) by artist Carolyn Schultz.
Carolyn Schultz's fascination with Africa began in her early childhood. She painted animals then and although through the years she studied and worked at every other facet of art, non-objective, landscape, still-life, seascape and portrait paintings, she came full circle, back to her first and favorite subject, jungle animals.
When Schultz began to paint exotic animals, she brought to her work the modern art background and experiences she had accumulated throughout the years. She created a style that is so unique, it has created a stir in the art world. The success of her technique can best be attributed to her talent and complete understanding and love of her subjects. She has a special empathy for the mother animals and their young. "As a woman and mother, I deeply understand the God-given instinct and oneness of creation and nature" (ROGllery.com/Carolyn_schultz).

Michael Knigin Placid Way
$130Michael Knigin - Placid Way
The winner will receive a hand-signed lithograph of Placid Way (1980) by artist Michael Knigin.
Michael Knigin (1942-2011) was born in Brooklyn, New York. He did his undergraduate study at the noted Tyler School of Art at Temple University, Pa. Knigin later became director of Chiron Press, N.Y., a fine art silk-screen and lithography workshop. The shop remained in existence for seven years, printing and publishing editions for the most renowned contemporary artists, including Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, and Paul Jenkins. Mr. Knigin's images are acclaimed internationally. Knigin intermingles a variety of images, including photo, with the purpose of making specific statements. Most often, he juxtaposes natural images with man-made works, often photographically rendering parts of the imagery for effect.
The subjective content of Knigin's work illustrates his concern with specific themes: the dehumanization of mankind, the schism between modern man and nature, the apparent lack of concern with the "beautiful" and the "elegant" in the Mainstream of contemporary culture. With startling contrast, Knigin portrays the distances that have appeared in our lives between elements of nature and modern industrialized society. Always present is a profound sense of the whimsical, a touch of magic.
Print is numbered by the artist 74/245 and measures pproximately 31"x22".

Music With A Flair
$100Arman: Music with a Flair
The winner of this package will receive a signed and numbered (95/150) limited edition of Arman's "Music with a Flair".
Arman is most associated with the Nouveau Realiste (New Realist) movement that emerged in 1960, and which represented France's response to the trend of Pop art that was sweeping Europe and the United States. Arman had first emerged as a lyrical abstract painter, but he soon rejected the style and began making sculpture inspired by the concept of the readymade. Arman's most notable work was preoccupied with the consequences of mass production: his Accumulations often reflected on the identical character of modern objects; his Poubelles, or "trash cans," considered the waste that results when these objects are discarded; and his Coleres, or "rages," expressed an almost irrational rage at objects that, in modern times, threatened to dominate everyday life. At his best, Arman delivered a powerful and chilling rejection of modernization and the culture of mass consumption. Later, he developed an aesthetic based on the act of destruction, his pieces commemorating the obliteration objects in various ways. Many of Arman's early sculptures point to the strangeness inherent in the idea of identical, mass produced objects. Gathering these identical objects together, he distracts us from their functional purpose and presents them instead as endlessly repeated forms - forms which seem to have a deeper meaning that, bia the processes of modernization, has been lost to us. In his focus on repetition, Arman's work echoes that of many AmericanMinimalists and Pop artists of the same period. Arman was important in pioneering the European return to Marcel Duchamp's idea of the readymade. Arman's fascination with it points to his belief that contemporary sculpture had to confront the commodity. That is, sculpture could no longer be crafted by hand, or displayed as a testimony to craft skills and imagination; instead it had to respond to the characteristics of mass-produced consumer goods.

Sienna Vermeer
$165George Deem: Sienna Vermeer
The winner will receive a hand-signed lithograph of Sienna Vermeer by artist George Deem.
Print is numbered by artist 153/300. Image with beige border measures approximately 30" x 22"; actual image measures approximately 21.5" x 18.5".
If imitation is a sincere form of flattery, George Deem's (1932-2008) admiration of his artistic forebears was carried out on his own canvases. Gifted at reproduction, he concentrated on making explicit references to other painters and other paintings, uncannily recreating the style, the light, the brushstrokes as well as the details of artists he loved.
But in addition to the explicit references, there were always subtle or not so subtle alterations. By leaving out familiar elements or adding elements to known works, or reconfiguring components within them, he made his work a visual commentary on the history of painting, dating to the Renaissance. Around the Lighthouse
$15James Milton Sessions: Around the Lighthouse
The winning bidder will receive a print of James Milton Sessions: Around the Lighthouse. The print measures 8 1/2" x 11", is unframed, and has a foam board backing.
Sessions received his initial exposure to art from his mother, who was an accomplished artist. He trained at the Art Institute of Chicago from 1903-1906 and initially supported himself as a wheelsman aboard Great Lakes ships from 1906-1914, later serving in the Illinois Naval Reserve during World War I. He also worked as a commercial illustrator.
He was a master watercolorist of marine, sporting, and military World War II scenes. He developed a love of the sea and is probably best known as a painter of marine subjects. Sessions painted images of numerous locations, from the Bahamas to New England's busy fishing harbors, north to the raw fishing grounds of Nova Scotia, and ultimately to the Navajo reservations in New Mexico.
Not only do his works document important World War II historical events, they visually portray and convey the spirit of the American fighting forces in both the Pacific and European campaigns, commencing with the bombing of Pearl Harbor, followed by D-Day Europe through to the final phases of the Pacific war, such as Jimmy Doolittle's daylight bombing raids of the Japanese mainland to the unconditional surrender of the Japanese military. The Chicago Tribune newspaper utilized his talents and Sessions is considered to be the greatest "brush reporter" of World War II. His works can be found in Presidential collections, numerous important corporate collections and military establishments throughout the country.

Sandy One by Mike Machat
$50Sandy One Framed and Signed Print by Mike Machat
The winner of this package will receive a framed print number 771/1000 of Mike Machat art piece, Sandy One.
This lithograph is a superb representation of an actual mission flown by Captain Richard S. Drury, a member of the USAF's 1st Special Operations Squadron. Flown on February 7, 1970, it resulted in the rescue of two downed A-6 crewmen from the USS Ranger, who faced a bleak future after being downed on the Ho Chi Minh trail, deep in Laos. For them, the angel of mercy took the form of an aged workhorse from another era….under the call sign "Sandy One." Richard Drury was born on October 22, 1943, in Burbank, California. He was commissioned a 2d Lt in the U.S. Air Force through the Air Force ROTC program at the University of Southern California on July 30, 1965, and went on active duty beginning October 16, 1965. Lt Drury next completed Undergraduate Pilot Training and was awarded his pilot wings at Williams AFB, Arizona, in October 1966, followed by B-52 Stratofortress Combat Crew Training from November 1966 to March 1967. His first assignment was as a B-52 pilot with the 340th Bomb Squadron at Blytheville AFB, Arkansas, from March 1967 to December 1968, and he then attended A-1 Skyraider Combat Crew Training from January to May 1969. Capt Drury served as an A-1 pilot with the 1st Special Operations Squadron at Nakhon Phanom Royal Thai AFB, Thailand, from May 1969 to May 1970, followed by service as a B-52 pilot with the 23rd Bomb Squadron at Minot AFB, North Dakota, from July 1970 until he left active duty on October 16, 1970. The Douglas A-1 Skyraider (formerly AD) was an American single-seat attack aircraft that saw service between the late 1940s and early 1980s. It became a piston-powered, propeller-driven anachronism in the jet age, and was nicknamed "Spad", after the French World War I fighter. The Skyraider had a remarkably long and successful career, even inspiring its straight-winged, slow-flying, jet-powered successor, the A-10 Thunderbolt II. EDITION: 1000 signed/numbered by Mike Machat and Richard S. Drury SIZE: 18" x 24"
