When Lulu Delacre discovered that only 17 Spanish-language alphabet books were available in America---compared to 17,000 in English---she created the bilingual picture book ¡Olinguito, de la A a la Z! Olinguito, from A to Z! Each illustration is scientifically accurate and took many hours to complete. In this image, a group of Andean Cocks-of-the-Rock show off their vibrant colors among the giant leaves of the Paragüilla plant in the cloud forest of Ecuador.

Delacre is a three-time Pura Belpré Illustrator Honoree. The Pura Belpré Award is co-sponsored by REFORMA, this year's Carle Honors Angel. Delacre's work was featured in The Carle's exhibition Latino Folk Tales: Cuentos Populares-Art by Latino Artists (2013).

All proceeds benefit The Carle's mission to instill a love of art and reading through picture books.

Artwork is framed by R. Michelson Galleries using archival materials.

Winners can take their artwork immediately after The Carle Honors. Absentee winners will receive their artwork via Federal Express; a flat shipping fee of $150 per artwork will apply.
