The Main Event

Spikes K9 Fund was founded by James Hatch, a retired Special Warfare Operator. As a K9 handler on several deployments, James' life was regularly spared by the work of K9s - one of the most memorable was Spike. And on James' final deployment, the night he was critically wounded, a K9 spared James' life while losing his own.

From that evening on, James oriented his life around the training, care and preservation of working dogs. Spike's K9 Fund, with your support, aspires to ensure every K9 receives exactly what they need every time. We purchase gear to keep them safer and for peak operation, and we pay for critical medical treatment to help them return to work or live their retirement days in complete health.

Join us for an entertaining cocktail hour, followed by K9 demos, dinner, and our finale - Retired Naval Special Warfare Operator, Author of "Touching the Dragon," and Founder of Spike's K9 Fund speaks about his life experiences and how he returned to "asset" status with the help of many incredible people (and dogs). Best part - proceeds from this event will benefit working K9s that keep our communities safe.

**Dress is casual. Please dress comfortably for weather. Venue is outdoors.**

"Music has always played a big role in Houston Phillips' life. Growing up in Cleveland, Tennessee, he learned guitar at age 8 from his grandmother, who taught him to play old hymns and gospel songs. His love for music continued to grow, and he knew that it was something he wanted to pursue as a career. Phillips went on to graduate from Belmont University with a degree in music business, after which he held many music industry jobs, including serving four years as Tyler Farr's tour manager. After stepping off the bus, Phillips decided to pursue songwriting full-time and turn his passion into a career. He has cuts by Jerrod Niemann, Tyler Farr, Jason Aldean, Colt Ford, and more. Phillips joined the MV2 roster in October 2018, and we couldn't be more excited to have him!"

About Hogwood

Contrary to popular belief, the soul of barbecue isn't in the south. It isn't in any one place. It's in the fire. It's the flames that fuel the smoker, tenderizing and roasting until just the right temperature. It's the fire that lives in the heart of the chef who meticulously hand-selects seasonal ingredients and pairs them in a way that's unexpected perfection. It's the fire that lights the path to faraway lands where spices are brought in by boat and chosen by aroma. It's the flame that lit the kitchens of our grandmothers and great-grandmothers who hand-wrote recipes and tucked them away for future generations. It's the fire burning out back for hours upon hours while food is cooked to temperature, with no regard for time or to do lists. Yes, the soul of barbecue isn't in any one place. It's in the fire. And it's at our event.
