Bear with Blue Pants

Glazed Ceramic

17" x 8" x 7 1/2"

Mitchell is a darling/daring, sculptor, ceramist, printmaker, painter, and conceptual artist who references a wide spectrum of art history, the decorative arts, kitsch, and pop culture. Made from glazed ceramic, this 2016 piece, Bear with Blue Pants, is a quintessential example of Mitchell's humor and hand. Showcasing high and low, this stunning, gritty, blue and white sculpture will be an approachable yet complex addition to anyone's collection.

Jeffry Mitchell has had solo shows at the Henry Gallery, University of Washington; Diverseworks, Houston (TX); White Columns (NY); the New Museum of Contemporary Art (NY); the Seattle Art Museum; and the Portland Art Museum. His works are in the collections of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, the Contemporary Museum in Honolulu, the Fogg Art Museum at Harvard University, the Philadelphia Art Museum, the New York Public Library, and the Seattle Art Museum, among others. Mitchell is represented by PDX Contemporary Art (OR) and James Harris Gallery (WA).
