The par 71, 7032-yard layout is a signature design of noted golf architects Dr. Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry.

Situated on approximately 400 acres of open space, the course offers wide generous fairways and challenging approach shots, providing a magnificent golfing experience for golfers of all levels. The course has many topographical changes from the low point of 102 feet, to the high point of 187 feet, and rock walls are woven through the whole of the course. Open vistas, native grasses, and large glacial boulders offer boundaries, definition, texture, and charm to the entire property. Two of the most distinctive features of the course are the rustic bunkers shrouded with native fescues and the velvet bentgrass greens.

Shelter Harbor Golf Club is situated on approximately 400 acres of open space with a permanent prohibition on the development and is the first new private course built in Washington County, Rhode Island in over 100 years. Located in Westerly and Charlestown, Rhode Island, the Club is an outgrowth of a desire to protect and preserve the natural environment of the area.
