Pheasant Wood is a rare tree usually grown as an ornamental tree for showy flowers. This species is more difficult to obtain than Ebony, and is a cherished wood from the Hawaiians, to the South East Asians. Keith found this unique piece of Pheasant Wood in the little town of Makawao on the island of Maui in Hawaii. The wood dealer is an old Portuguese man in his 80's that is licensed by the state to harvest downed trees.
