About the artist, Rachel Timmins: Most of my work circles around the ideas of mutation and personal evolution. In my everyday life and in my craft, I question what our society considers to be beautiful and valuable. I add humor and narrative into my work, which allows the viewer to both relate and laugh while still acknowledging the serious idea of mental and physical evolution and metamorphosis. My wearable and sculptural works have been featured at the Design Museum in London,UK, The Masur Museum of Art, the Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts, the Baltimore Museum of Art and the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art.
