Original Vintage 1969 Framed Woodstock Poster

18'' x 24.5'' / 46 x 62 cm

Value: $1,700

This actual poster was at the largest hippie rock concert of the Sixties -- an event that came to symbolize "peace" (hence the white dove) and "freedom". We love all the text squeezed into the poster-- the $18 price for a 3-day ticket, and one of the all-time greatest list of performers including Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Arlo Guthrie, Jefferson Airplane, Santana, The Band, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and Joan Baez. Plus there's a weird bit about "dozens of curious food and fruit combinations to experiment with."

A note from the donor:

"As you may know (the concert organizers) were denied permits in two locations (Woodstock and Wallkill, NY) and had only recently gotten the ok from the eventual location. So it was a scramble to make new posters...we took as many posters as we could fit in my car. They gave us a special pass so we could use the back road access to the site used by the performers and event workers. So my friend and I and my then girlfriend drove up and parked a hundred or so yards from the stage and sold posters for $1 each out of the car window. Then it started to rain..."

This is one of those posters that made it safely through the rain. It has been carefully preserved for almost 50 years.

Frame: Plain black metal frame. Poster floats on black mat which shows about one inch on all sides. Conservation, non-glare glass.
