SpeakEasy Stage Company
Spring Gala

Friday, April 5, 2019
6:00pm - 10:00pm

Revere Hotel - Boston Common
200 Stuart Street, Boston

Join us for our annual Spring Gala, a one-night only celebration of SpeakEasy's theatrical achievements with artists, supporters, and friends. This year's event will feature a lively cocktail reception, a three-course seated dinner, a robust silent auction filled with one-of-a-kind prizes and experiences, and top-tier SpeakEasy entertainment, featuring the music of Jeanine Tesori.

We are thrilled to announce that we will be awarding the 2019 Mayor Thomas M. Menino Award for Inspired Support of the Arts to Ed & Nancy Roberts. The Roberts share a tremendous passion for theatre, music, and visual art and have been supporters of the arts in Boston for decades. Nancy has served as a member of SpeakEasy's Board of Directors for the past eight years, and Ed has been an invaluable advisor to the company. They are also the benefactors of the Nancy and Edward Roberts Studio Theatre, which is SpeakEasy's artistic home at the Stanford Calderwood Pavilion at the Boston Center for the Arts.

"SpeakEasy Stage is thrilled to honor Nancy and Ed Roberts as true friends of both the arts and Boston artists," said SpeakEasy Artistic Director Paul Daigneault in announcing the honorees. "Throughout their many years of service, both Nancy and Ed have advocated for and demonstrated the power of the arts to change lives and build healthy, vibrant communities. We are excited to honor them both with the company's own Mayor Thomas M. Menino Memorial Award for Inspired Support of the Arts, given annually at our Spring Gala."

We will also be awarding the 2019 Artistic Excellence Award to legendary Broadway composer Jeanine Tesori for her momentous musical compositions that made history with their artistic excellence and powerful themes. Tesori has changed the face of musical theatre by creating powerful female protagonists and giving voices to communities often ignored, through her musicals Fun Home, Violet, Caroline or Change, Shrek, Thoroughly Modern Millie, and more. By presenting artistically challenging and timely work like Tesori's, SpeakEasy has grown as a company and has raised the bar for professional theatre in Boston.

We look forward to featuring Ms. Tesori's music at this year's event, performed by SpeakEasy artists from our productions of Fun Home, Violet, and others.

Sponsorships and tickets available now.
The SpeakEasy Silent Auction will open on Friday, March 29, 2019.
