Throw yourself into the art of journaling! Beloved Landon LS teacher (and journaler) Rebecca Poyatt will show your writer all different types of journals, from the dream journal, to the gratitude journal, to the journals that showcase each writer's creativity. Writers will take a field trip to the craft store, and fill the pages of their blank journals with personal entries, pictures, quotes, dreams, mementos, and more. Writers will express their writing through multi-genre entries, immerse themselves in journal-y literature, such as Dear Dumb Diary and Dork Diaries, and get to know some famous journalers, all while creating a beautiful keepsake journal. By the end of the workshop, writers will be full-fledged members of the journaling community, sharing, growing, and writing out their dear diary moments.
One two-week session, July 1-12, 1-3:30 p.m.

Do you love to play the violin? Do you want to learn how to play fiddle music? It's easy and fun! Fiddle tunes are simple and you can even learn them by ear - we can show you how. Beloved Landon orchestra director, concert violinist and fiddle champion Mr. Robert Spates will teach you to play Irish music, Bluegrass, and other fiddle styles. Each day starts with an easy warm up. We will then listen to different kinds of fiddle music, see how the tunes are put together, and try them out for ourselves. We will read some from sheet music, but many of them we will learn by ear. After lunch, we can get creative and even make up our own tunes. On Friday, July 12 at 2:30 p.m. we will have a jam session for parents and friends to attend. So join us and have some foot-stompin' fun!

Yoga? Mindfulness? Journaling? Walking? Many different coping techniques allow you to disconnect from stressors and reconnect to your center. Beloved Landon MS history teacher Francesca Panarelli will help campers learn different activities to help them relax, alleviate stress, and most importantly, calm their minds, bodies, and souls. Each day starts with yoga in the Perkins Garden, followed by a mindfulness technique for the day. This includes tasting different kinds of herbal tea, practicing mindful meditation, walking in nature, and daily journal entries to promote a sense of calm. We will also visit a local walking trail to experience the beauty and serenity of nature. Campers will receive a handout each day to summarize the technique they studied to promote more frequent practice and to allow them to share their new knowledge with family and friends.
Choose one of three one-week sessions, June 17-21, July 8-12, July 15-19, 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Boys and girls, rising 4th through rising 7th graders.

Your boy or girl lacrosse player will have a great time and improve their skills at one of Madlax's lacrosse camps this summer. There are several different camps to choose from based on the interests and needs of your player.
The camps are for rising 2nd to rising 12th grade boys and girls and focus on various aspects of the game--attack, defense, face-offs, goalies, and overall lacrosse.

The StudyPro Essential Study Skills Course teaches the 10 skills that match what is being asked of a student in school. Your Bear will receive a personalized learning style assessment and leave understanding the most effective study strategies for his unique learning style. Skills covered include time management, organization, planning and note-taking.
The course is broken down into five 2-hour modules and is held at The StudyPro Center in McLean, VA. In addition to the course, the winning bidder will receive three free sessions in our coached Homework Center, where study skills and subject matter coaches are provided for support.
This course is held during the summer and the school year for both MS and HS (grades 6-12).
