The 1982 Château Latour is quintessential Bordeaux-and quintessential Latour. In a 2018 tasting, Vinious' Neal Martin awarded it 100 points, noting, "The 1982 Latour is just as composed and detailed as the finest bottles that I have encountered, bridled with captivating blackberry, graphite and cedar aromas that are brilliantly focused. [I]t is still regal and as blue-blooded as they come. The palate is ineffably graceful and chiselled down to the finest detail?The 1982 is a masterful, regal Latour and probably now the finest Left Bank exponent of this vintage." Robert Parker's Wine Advocate also awarded 100 points, noting in 2019 that it, "has a medium garnet-brick color and then pow!-it belts out powerful notes of star anise, dried roses, sandalwood and new leather with a core of kirsch, blackberry tart, dried mulberries and blackcurrant pastilles. Full-bodied, rich and spicy with bags of fruit and tons of savory fireworks, it finishes with epic persistence."

John F. Folinsbee, Daughter Beth, 1931

John Fulton Folinsbee (1892-1972) was born in Buffalo, New York, and received his first formal arts instruction from painter Jonas Lie at the age of fifteen. By the age of twenty, he had fully committed himself to painting, marking the start of a career spanning six decades.

He first came to New Hope in 1916 at the suggestion of tonalist painter Birge Harrison. There he joined Edward Redfield, Daniel Garber, Robert Spencer, and William Lathrop-the group of artists now generally known as the New Hope School of landscape painting, or the Pennsylvania Impressionists. He quickly became immersed in the community there, and, in 1929, helped to found the Phillips Mill Community Association with his wife, Ruth.

Although his manner of painting changed as he incorporated more contemporary ideas and techniques, Folinsbee always approached his work with a fearlessness and independence that makes his work challenging to classify. He had little time or need for "isms," and thought of himself merely as a Realist, an artist seeking to reveal the deeper truth of the world around him.

He is best known today for his impressionist scenes of New Hope, Pennsylvania, and Lambertville, New Jersey, particularly the factories, quarries, and canals along the Delaware River, and was also an accomplished portraitist.

Stag's Leap Wine Cellars enjoys a distinguished reputation and is considered a Napa Valley first-growth estate. They were the first to bring international recognition to California winemaking and the Napa Valley when the 1973 S.L.V. Cabernet Sauvignon won the now famous 1976 Paris Tasting, besting some of the most celebrated wines of Bordeaux.

Arthur Meltzer, Bucks County Quarry in Winter

Artist Arthur Meltzer (1893-1989) was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and began his training as an artist at the Minneapolis School of Fine Arts. After leaving home to serve in World War I, he relocated to Philadelphia to attend the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA), studying with Daniel Garber and Joseph Pearson, both of whom proved greatly influential on Meltzer's style.

In 1921 he won the prestigious Cresson Traveling Scholarship at PAFA and used it to travel and study throughout Europe. His exposure to art in Europe reinforced the lessons of his teachers, and Meltzer's style began to truly capture the essence of the Pennsylvania Impressionist idiom. He is best known for his landscapes that capture the changing seasons and different times of day.

In 1925, Meltzer joined the faculty of the Moore Institute (now called the Moore College of Art & Design) as a fine arts instructor. A year later, in 1926, he became Head of the Fine Arts Department, teaching painting, drawing, and anatomy. It was there that he met Paulette Van Roekens, also a Moore teacher and painter, whom he married in 1927. Meltzer taught at the Moore Institute until 1949 when he retired to his home in Huntington Valley where he painted and taught privately for the rest of his life.

Meltzer's work has been exhibited at the Michener Art Museum on a number of occasions, including Objects of Desire: Treasures from Private Collections (2005-2006), An Evolving Legacy: Twenty Years of Collecting at the James A. Michener Art Museum (2009-2010), and the institutional landmark exhibition The Painterly Voice: Bucks County's Fertile Ground (2011-2012).
