After a career spent working as a master chef, Walter Deuschle has found new ways to create in his retirement. Whether creating luminous landscapes with paint or unique sculptures and relief images from wine corks, he draws inspiration from the beauty of nature and from the sense of wonder seen through the eyes of a child.

Self-taught artist Margie Perry is the quintessential Bucks County native-she grew up in Chalfont, and has lived in Lahaska for over 25 years. She began painting in 1999, experimenting and learning new skills as she created. She works primarily from photographs, and is deeply inspired by the area in which we live, capturing scenes she sees as she goes about her daily life.

XiaoGang Zhu earned his Bachelor's degree in Art & Design at the Suzhou Institute of Silk Technology in China and his Master's in Art History at Nanjing Art Academy, during the time of the Cultural Revolution. Though innovative thought was banned, Zhu naturally evolved into an Impressionistic idiom. He came to the United States in 1989, and became known for his mastery with the gouache medium. He creates light-filled landscapes and waterscapes of places with which he is familiar-China and the Yangtze River, Arizona, Washington State and Central Oregon. He is a signature member of the American Watercolor Society and has won numerous awards both in China and the United States. He participates in many exhibitions and one-man shows throughout the nation and in China. In 1995, Zhu was awarded the "High Winds" Medal in the 128th annual exhibition of the American Watercolor Society

Born in Philadelphia in 1946, Diane Levell was raised in Bucks County, before going on to study architecture and interior design at Endicott College, and earning a Bachelor's of Fine Arts at the University of Delaware in 1970. There she first developed her skills in photography, an interest that quickly blossomed while she pursued her Master's in Fine Arts at George Washington University; though she entered school to study ceramics, she quickly found a new photo-chemical skill set and began forging a new path in alternative process photography. At the time, no faculty taught alternative processes, so Levell pursued independent projects to master the skills needed for the four historical processes that have been mainstays of her artistic career: cyanotype, gum bichromate, photogravure, and Van Dyke printing.

After touring the continent extensively during her graduate studies, Levell and her husband moved to Europe, living for a number of years in Paris, London, the south of France, and Turkey before settling in Heidelberg, Germany. There, she taught an impressive range of art and design classes, and served the U.S. Army as both a graphic designer and the chief photographer in Europe. She exhibited at a range of institutions, most notably in 1989 in a special exhibition at the Stadmuseum Ludwigshafen celebrating the 150th anniversary of Daguerre's published instructions for sensitizing photographic plates: the birth of modern photography. Since returning to the United States she has exhibited at The Platinum Gallery in NYC, the Princeton Arts Council, Bucks County Community College, the Mercer Museum, Delaware County Community College, the Hunterdon Art Museum, and was a prize winner at the annual Phillips' Mill Photography exhibition in New Hope, among many others. Her first solo show at the Michener Art Museum, Intrepid Alchemist: Diane Levell's Bucks County, was on view March 23 through July 28, 2019.

John R. McGahey, Fall Vision

A signature member of the International Society of Acrylic Painters, McGahey returned to his first love-painting-after a career as an art director in broadcasting, advertising, and direct marketing. His work has been featured in numerous juried exhibitions at institutions across the country, including the Palm Springs Art Museum. He was a major prizewinner exhibiting with the National Society of Painters in Casein and Acrylic at the Salmagundi Club in New York.

Quakertown-based artist Steve Tobin is known internationally for his work with glass, bronze, recycled materials, and monumental steel-two of which grace the Michener's front façade to this day. His works can be found in collections from Doylestown to Shanghai-and everywhere in between.

His enormous studio is home to three-story sculptures of recycled metal that has been transformed into elegant and massive root forms. The winning bidder will enjoy a private tour for ten of the studio, and will take home a signed copy of Tobin's latest monograph, Steve Tobin: Mind Over Matter by Phoebe Hoban.

Janine Dunn Wade, Pitcher, Pear, & Posie

Janine Dunn Wade has worked extensively in both pastel and oil. She has studied art in France, Italy and Mexico. An award-winning artist, Wade's work has been regularly featured in juried exhibitions over the last two decades, including those at Phillips Mill, the Woodmere Art Museum, Lambertville Historical Society Annual Exhibition, and the Philadelphia Sketch Club, as well as many solo and group exhibitions throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Her work can be found in many private collections both nationally and internationally.

Christopher Willett, Tinicum Creek, Bucks County, PA

A descendant of the renowned painter Edward Hicks (best known for his work Peaceable Kingdom), Christopher Willett has built a reputation for himself as a painter working in the Pennsylvania Impressionist style that stands entirely apart from that of his famous relative. Willett works in both oil and watercolor. His recent work has been compared to that of Edward Redfield, and he succinctly captures the landscape and daily lives of the people that live-and have lived-in this locale.
