"Confluence of Compassion" by Teresa Wise

Acrylic

12" x 12"

Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, Teresa Wise, can not remember a time when she was not creating in some form. Producing artwork in various mediums since a small child she was encouraged by her mother and supplied with all the paper, pencils and paint she desired. Her pursuits were also encouraged through out her education by various teachers. This drive to create has been a part of her throughout her life and has lead her to a career in graphic design as well as continuing to develop original art and to indulge her love of photography.

Teresa is has been a full time freelance graphic designer since 2000 and while she loves creating in various digital programs, traditional mediums such as drawing in both graphite and pen and ink as well as painting in acrylics are still her real joys. She has participated in various gallery shows in St. Louis and various cities in the United States as well as having work exhibited in group shows for street stickers and paste-ups in Europe.

ARTIST STATEMENT:

My artwork has had many influences throughout my life, from wanting to capture realistic detail to delving into more abstract creations. I have a deep love of nature and wildlife and have incorporated these themes into my work, specifically dealing with the role of humans both positive and negative on the natural world. I am constantly drawn to the struggle of animals and the environment and the impact mankind is imposing on this planet. I hope by pursuing these themes I can continue to grow as a person and to inspire others to think about their actions and their effects on others as well as the nature.
