You know him from Café Ponte in Largo and On Swann in Hyde Park Village. We know him as a wonderful friend and supporter of the Ryan Wells Foundation. The Ponte family has been thinking on an Italian restaurant for 10 years now, and in 2018 they purchased the former Carmel Kitchen and Wine Bar in South Tampa off Himes and Swan. Olivia is named after their 21 year old daughter and plans to open in Spring 2018. They envision Olivia as a neighborhood restaurant that is a happy hour destination and a place to celebrate special occasion, with seating for 185 people, serving traditional Italian fare with a modern spin and presentation. The atmosphere will be sophisticated but ultimately unfussy and comfortable with lots of black and white, brass accents and natural materials. There will be a theatrical element, with fresh pasta and mozzarella made at an open counter. Serving dinner during the week and brunch on Saturdays and Sundays.
