Please join us for Vision | 2020 & Beyond, a gala celebration of the New Haven Symphony Orchestra and Music Director Alasdair Neale. We will lean into the New Year, the new era and the next chapter - all made possible because of the generous supporters who have kept the NHSO active as a continued part of the community for more than 125 years.

Founded in 1894, the NHSO is the 4th oldest orchestra in the United States and currently performs annually for more than 50,000 people, including 20,000 children.

Enjoy live music, silent and live auctions, delicious food, and decadent desserts… all while supporting your New Haven Symphony's legacy of artistic excellence, education, and innovation.

As part of this joyous celebration, the gala honors two exceptional community members: Kathy and Gurdon Wattles, for their unwavering dedication to your New Haven Symphony. In addition, the Symphony will present its first-ever artistic, education, history, and innovation awards.

Approximately fifty years ago, NHSO volunteers Myrna and Arnold Baskin along with Beekman Cannon invited their friend, Gurdon Wattles, to become more involved with our Symphony. Stemming from an interest in music that was partially inspired by his mother, Gurdon welcomed the opportunity to enjoy world class performances under then Music Director Frank Brieff. These early patron experiences quickly grew into dedicated Board service throughout much of the 1970's including Gurdon's role as Board Vice President from 1976-1979. Since 1980, Gurdon B. Wattles has been a dedicated Emeriti Board member.

For the last two decades in a period when the Symphony was in a strong upward trend, Gurdon Wattles increased his recommendations for support of the New Haven Symphony Orchestra's mission. The support of leadership-giving from the Howard Bayne Fund and the Wattles Family Charitable Trust at the NY Community Trust along with ongoing friendship from Gurdon and Kathy Wattles has made a significant difference. This year, the NHSO is proud to salute Gurdon and Kathy Wattles! Together in harmonious philanthropic support, Gurdon and Kathy have contributed to well over one million people experiencing the Symphony, a true testament of their kindness.

Announcing the inaugural NHSO Quartet Awardees!

For 126 seasons, the New Haven Symphony has been dedicated to artistic excellence through the performance of live orchestral music. What began as a dedicated group of community members has evolved into a foundational arts organization for the greater New Haven region. Today, your New Haven Symphony Orchestra proudly advances the values of artistic excellence, education, historical impact, and innovation. These four values are being celebrated at the annual Gala and will, for the first time, serve as the basis of the NHSO Quartet Awards.
