From the very beginning of the Colony in the 17th century, New Haven has had a close tie to the sea. Especially prominent in terms of trade were voyages to the West Indies, although New Haven tried to join in the prosperity of the China Trade by sending the ship "Neptune" to Canton in the 1790's. Oystering predated the English settlement and has remained important to New Haven economy ever since. Steamships replaced sailing vessels and some in New Haven still remember the "Richard Peck."

Golf outing at The Course at Yale
The winner of this item will enjoy a fall golf foursome between October 1st and November 30th, 2019
In 1924, a 700-acre tract of swamp and woodland was given to Yale by Mrs. Ray Tompkins in memory of her husband. Under the supervision of Charles Blair Macdonald, the renowned golf course architect, champion golfer, and co-founder of the USGA, plans were made for an 18-hole golf course. With a budget of $400,000, Macdonald, in collaboration with Seth Raynor and Charles Banks, designed a masterpiece which opened for play in 1926.
Today, the Yale Golf Course is recognized as one of the finest examples of early American golf course design. Large deeply bunkered greens and narrow rolling fairways are the core of Yale's penalizing character. In 1988, Golf Magazine ranked Yale as 71st among the 100 most difficult courses in the world. Many recognize the layout as the best collegiate course in the nation. Two of the holes- the 432-yard par-4 fourth and the 238-yard par-3 ninth - have been ranked among the 100 most difficult holes. The Yale course has been the site of every significant state championship, two USGA Junior National events, the 1991 NCAA Eastern Regional championships, the 1991 ECAC Men's Championship, and the 1992 ECAC Women's Championship. During the NCAA tourney, only 21 subpar rounds were recorded of the 360 played during the three days. The course has also been the home of the Nike Connecticut Open.
Voted #1 College Golf Course in America! Ranked #49 of the Top 100 Classical Golf Courses in America.

One hour massage with aromatherapy
"Take time to relax and rejuvenate." Enjoy a one hour massage from Gail Yurman, Licensed Massage Therapist. Her approach to massage begins with the understanding that to thrive in life, one needs a calm-balance and a healthy-being. Relaxation and renewed health - proper massage therapy provides both.
When Gail meets you, she "sees" you as the unique person that you are, and customizes your therapy to help you gain this essential balance and heal any injuries or "trouble spots" that are holding you back from your optimum health and wellness goals.
There are many benefits to massage therapy beginning with relieving stress and pain. We all know too well how ongoing stress, or pain, can lock the body and mind into negative and unproductive patterns that don't allow us to live our lives fully.
Many see massage as a luxury spa treatment, reserved only for special occasions. While Gail loves knowing that her offerings are regarded as such a special treat she also wants you to realize the long term, therapeutic benefits that massage provides.
Whether you're choosing massage as a calming retreat or for its ongoing benefits, choosing Gail Yurman for your therapy will not only meet your needs and expectations, it will far exceed them.
