David is a Cornea Transporter for the Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin. "I'm honored that the Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin asked me to be their representative for the Spotlight on Life Gala dance show. We all work together to promote organ, tissue and eye donation and understand its importance of saving and enhancing the lives of others."
David is an avid advocate in the world of organ, tissue and eye donation. He has actively participated in the National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin's annual Capital City 5K in Madison, is a speaker at driver's education classes on organ, tissue and eye donation, has dressed as the Dottie the Donor Dot Mascot, is a cornea transporter, and is a personal advocate for organ, tissue and eye donation.
David has a very personal connection to organ donation. His wife, Cheryl, was a Kidney Transplant recipient in 2016. She began dialysis in 2011 before her "gift of life" and the Stedman family has been vocal advocates for donation since then.
His career as a dancer began at a young age when he was a ring bearer at his Aunt Wendy and Uncle Roy Lehr's wedding.
David enjoys golf and attending theater events. He was a band director for 22 years and learned many instruments, but specializes in piano, tuba, and trombone. He has sung the National Anthem at many different sporting events and once performed with the original NBC television cast of the opera "Amahl" and the Night Visitors at the Sentry World Theater in Stevens Point. His favorite song is Billy Joel's "Piano Man".
David has been married to his lovely wife, Cheryl, for 34 years and they have two Rat Terrier/Schnauzer mixes, Mia and Lucy.
David is from Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin and attended the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point and VanderCook College of Music - Chicago, Illinois.
