Rajan, one of W.O.L.F.'s most beloved residents crossed the rainbow bridge in 2018. Animal advocate and lover of wolves, Kris Paige, created a beautiful shawl to memorialize his soulful spirit. As part of the handspun process, the yarn starts with brushings. They are washed twice, dried, then carded, spun, plied, then washed again. The weaving takes several days then the ends are hand stitched, and the entire shawl is washed again.
Artist statement: "Rajan, as many of us who had the honor of meeting him, shared a powerful personality. I had a couple of designs in mind for this shawl, however, he "managed" to reject both. This design came from looking at pictures of him over the years, and trying to represent the that extraordinary personality. His strong pack leader side is shown in the dark borders. His sweet nature is appropriately represented by the creamy center. Over 1200 yards of hand spun fur and material make this 7 ounce shawl guaranteed to protect you from cool breezes. If, perchance, while wearing it, you feel a tiny lick on your ear, just smile."

Renowned artist Julie Kramer Cole has been a long time supporter of W.O.L.F. and has donated many one of a kind paintings to our gala over the years. Cole was nominated and selected to the Colorado Institute of Art Hall of Fame, and her paintings have received national acclaim and numerous awards.
This year the portrait choice was Rajan. I waited and waited for him to connect but he would just quietly come and go. I knew with his kind and gentle, happy disposition that I should proceed with the art on my terns so as to have it ready for the W.O.L.F. gala but that was not meant to be. He finally made it known to me that he didn't want to be left behind. He loved his precious small place on earth and that he is afraid of time going by. His message is for us to know that even though he is physically not here any longer, his love is in the air that surrounds his wolf family, friends and caregivers. "Goodbye" will never be his place in space as long as we remember him, so let the art proceed now in fond remembrance."
