About Wheelock Academy Historic Site: Built near the original site of the Wheelock Mission, Wheelock Academy Historic Site continues to tell the history of the mission, school and the young women who attended the Academy. Visitors are able to visit the grounds and see structures built in 1884 after the original mission and school were destroyed in a fire. The restored teachers' dormitory houses the museum and gift shop where one can see photos of what the site looked like in the late 1800's until the school closed in 1955. Just recently added to the site is the Wheelock Church, the oldest established church in Oklahoma.
