Over lunch, you and Dr. Bartner will discuss the landscape, seascape, or outdoor scene you'd like him to paint. The winning bidder can choose to commission an original work inspired by a favorite setting or have Dr. Bartner recreate a favorite photograph as a unique piece of art.

One important artistic boundary: portraits are not on the menu-of you or your dog! As Dr. Bartner puts it: "I don't do that!"

Commissioned as an artistic depiction of the USC campus, this beautifully framed print is the perfect complement to every Trojan's office, library, or den. The original oil painting has been reproduced in giclee format, then numbered and hand-signed by the artist. The Trustee Edition, printed on canvas, features a special artist's remarque - a small, original painting applied to the giclee print, making it truly one of a kind. Jane Wooster Scott, one of America's foremost folk artists, has had her work exhibited in settings that include galleries, celebrity homes and even the White House.

This portrait of longtime USC Band director Dr. Arthur C. Bartner is a numbered photographic print from an original pencil drawing by USC alumnus, Mark Hilliard. Artist Mark Hilliard played baseball and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from USC. Hilliard works across a variety of art forms, and he acts, sings, and has taught art locally for more than 30 years. Both the artist and the subject have signed this print, which is 14.5" x 10.5" and appears in a 16" by 20" frame.

After USC hired Dr. Bartner in 1970 to lead the Trojan Marching Band, he transformed the 80-piece group he had inherited into "The Spirit of Troy," one of America's most famous college bands. Dr. Bartner retired in 2020, after 50 years as "the man on the ladder."
