Artist's biography

Sarah Allen started her antiquing side-hustle a few years back, and because friends all knew about it, she would get referrals all the time. One day, Sarah came home to discover someone had left this sweet little yellow tv in her driveway. Her initial plan was to sell it, and she very nearly did at the Flamingo Haven yard sale. But the would-be buyer took it inside to see if it worked, and opted out when it didn't. So Sarah brought it home, and started brainstorming what I could do with it -- and that was how the little accent table for the husband's fireplace chair was born.

Each vintage electronics is so unique, and one of Sarah's favorite parts of her projects is tailoring the hardware to match each one's personality. It may be anything from a Bakelite drawer pull from eBay to a defective one from a thrifted dresser that didn't match the original piece's hole width. But as yet, no two drawer pulls have been the same, and they each suit their respective electronics beautifully.

Artist's biography

As a schoolgirl, Laureen Miklos was reprimanded for spending too much time on her art projects. Gradually, she gave them up to launch a 24-year career as a Navy pilot.

She holds a B.S. in English from the Naval Academy and a M.A. of Liberal Arts from Johns Hopkins University.

After retiring as a Navy commander, she returned to her early passion -- painting. Her primary medium is acrylic, and she's always experimenting with different textures and tools.

Her work is influenced by her deep love of nature. She says "especially the visual dynamism between the organic world and manmade."

This painting incapsulates the disentanglement you feel with yourself after consuming an abundance of media and online content, when you begin to question who you are and it's shown through the wires the "unplugging" of the head, bursting with color to reveal you are more authentically yourself without all the photos, videos, and paragraphs you put online, and if not even more woke about the reality of how the online world is changing us and changing how we live our lives today.

Artist's biography

Julia Ransdell a visual artist based in Northern Kentucky who creates art with acrylic paint, pen, pencil, and marker to express emotion through colors and vivid detail. She received Vox Populi for the 55th Annual Duvenec Art Show and had the opportunity to do a caricature pop-up there as well! Julia enjoys turning feeling into something she can look at and feel as well and for others to view.
