'Coming Out of the Shadows'
Item/Booth # 170
16" x 4" x 5"
Value: $460 - $550
I'm drawn to people who quietly build others up-those who encourage from the sidelines yet remain in the shadows. I recognize myself in them. As an artist, I find it difficult to "put myself out there"; I'm most comfortable watching and supporting others from the edges. This piece grows out of the vulnerable, uncomfortable process of learning to speak about my own work and to let it be seen, even when every instinct tells me to stay hidden.
'Twin Peaks'
Item/Booth # 187
15" x 7.25" x 9"
Value: $1250 - $1475
Bid Increment: $25
Low and wide, Twin Peaks holds its ground like a mountain range. The form stretches in a fluid arc, dipping at the center into a soft valley before rising again. Its peaks are narrow openings, as if the mountains are exhaling. Organic, imperfect, life-like. Made by hand with black stoneware clay coils, Twin Peak's surface is unglazed and textural. In some lights, the clay appears black, and in others, it is very dark brown. Tiny specks of light grog can be seen and felt. The interior has a clear glaze. Waterproof.
