Created during the Crown Heights Riots in Brooklyn, The Letter pays homage to the artist's mother, Llewellyn, who was a great communicator. Oftentimes, she would sit by the window to read letters and correspond with family and friends. She was gravely concerned about world peace, and troubled by the riots, chaos and disorder that plagued her world. Since the creation of email, hand written letters have become nearly obsolete. Women of the world are capable of restoring peace and hope to our society; The Letter represents their power.
