Susan Overstreet, En Plein Air
Live ItemSUSAN OVERSTREET, En Plein Air "Garden Party" Painting
Acclaimed Cape Cod artist Susan Overstreet will spend the evening of the event creating an original plein air painting inspired by the beauty of the Cape Cod Museum of Art, its gardens and the vibrant atmosphere of the Garden Party Gala itself. Throughout the evening, guests will witness the painting evolve in real time as Overstreet captures the changing light, color and energy of this unforgettable celebration!
Known for her bold use of color and expressive brushwork, Overstreet's paintings balance representation with abstraction, transforming the familiar landscapes of Cape Cod into richly textured, emotionally resonant works of art. Working quickly and intuitively, she embraces the spontaneity of painting outdoors, allowing each moment to shape the final composition.
At the close of the evening, this freshly completed original painting will be offered in the Live Auction. No reproductions. No second edition. Just one extraordinary painting that forever captures the spirit of this year's Garden Party Gala.
Bid generously for the rare chance to own an original Susan Overstreet created before your eyes while supporting the Cape Cod Museum of Art and its mission to preserve the region's artistic identity, steward its permanent collection, and connect the Cape's many communities through diverse programming!

Ruth Hogan Artwork
Live ItemRUTH HOGAN, Art in the Garden
Artist's Proof, White-Line Woodblock Print, 1988
Image: 9" x 14" | Framed: 17" x 21"
A rare opportunity to own a true piece of Cape Cod Museum of Art history, this Artist's Proof captures the Museum's 1988 'Art in the Garden' celebration, depicting guests enjoying the celebration with the original Cape Cod Museum of Fine Art building as the backdrop. More than a beautiful work of art, this proof serves as a visual time capsule, preserving an important chapter in the Museum's history and the vibrant community of artists that have long gathered to support it.
Created by acclaimed white-line printmaker Ruth Hogan, Art in the Garden exemplifies the bold color and handcrafted beauty of the Provincetown white-line woodblock tradition. Although Hogan grew up in Texas, her artistic roots run deep on Cape Cod through her great-aunt, Elizabeth Howland Caliga, one of the founding members of the Provincetown Printers. She also studied with artists Robert Douglas Hunter and Ferol Warthen in Provincetown. Inspired by that legacy, Hogan embraced representational scenes filled with warmth and vivid color, believing art should celebrate the joy found in everyday life.
This impression is especially significant as an Artist's Proof (AP), a rare print retained by the artist during the creative process before the principal edition was completed. Because each white-line print is individually hand-painted and hand-rubbed from a single carved woodblock, every impression is unique, making Artist's Proofs especially sought after by collectors.
For collectors of Cape Cod art, admirers of the Provincetown white-line tradition, and supporters of the Museum alike, this exceptional work offers the rare chance to own both an outstanding print and a lasting piece of the Cape Cod Museum of Art's legacy.
