Contemporary American Impressionist painter Sam Barber's work has been exhibited internationally, and is currently represented in the permanent collections of over thirty-five public and university art museums across the United States. Barber has developed over the past two decades a style which has roots in Hensche's color theory and in American and French Impressionism. Open, light, and airy, Barber's paintings are typified by intensely saturated "broken color" brushwork of great chromatic complexity. Deborah Forman works in mixed media and digital art. In her art, she explores and interprets a concept or idea to create an image that is an expression of the world around her, which she sees as her new reality. In her mixed-media work, along with the painted surface, she incorporates elements from everyday life to form mostly abstract images. Always focusing on space, shape, color, and rhythm, she finds in her digital art, this is particularly important to enhance her photographs to transform them into a resonating vision. She had a one-person show at the Cape Cod Museum of Art in 2013 and her art is in the collection of that museum as well as in numerous private collections. Elinor Freedman is drawn to the vibrancy and immediacy of pastel. From an early age handiwork has fascinated and inspired Diane Heart. In 1976 she had the opportunity to throw her first pot on a wheel at an art center. From there she went to college and on to an apprenticeship in order to learn the art and craft of pottery. Since those early days, she has had extensive experience teaching classes and seminars for art institutes. Her creative work has led her to collaborate with many other artists, including potters, painters, and photographers. She has also been involved with setting up cooperative studios as well as starting her current business that features both her pottery and her husband's photography. Currently she favors crafting high-fire porcelain ware. When it comes to glazes, the ocean inspires Heart to create a watercolor effect on her pieces. "My paintings employ the use of color as the primary subject. I am referring to the relationship of the colors working together as a whole. I strive to create an atmosphere, mood and experience through color alone. The color relationships in these paintings percolate for months before completion. They are comprised of bands of hand-painted acrylic on BFK Rives paper. The segments of painted paper are collaged onto an archival board which stands out from the wall an inch in order to project a colored shadow surrounding the work. This glow will connect to the surface enriching the subject of the painting. In the transition from one color to the next, hues will shift, razor thin edges appear, and vibrations occur. The titles of the paintings are alliterations which describe the character of the subject color. The paintings are present the viewer with color relationships which may trigger a memory or be a new experience, but all are intended to allow the viewer a moment to pause and observe the power of color."

Doris Mee paints with watercolor, acrylic and with a mix of media, often using her hand-painted oriental papers in her work. Kate Nelson is drawn to and moved by the outdoor life. "Since graduating from college with a degree in fine arts nearly fifty years ago, my artistic expression has been mainly through sculpture in the form of abstract constructions. The primary focus of that work has been the process involved in its creation. In a sense the pieces have been performance based, where the goal is not the finished piece, but rather the experience of moving through the creative process. As with my sculpture, my paintings are abstract, and as with my sculpture, the main focus of the paintings is the process of creating them. These paintings have also been a unifying element in my life. In the half century since I last painted creatively, I have been deeply involved in the building industry, both as a contractor, and later as a writer and photographer of construction practices. During that time I was always intrigued by the style and sophistication of joinery, from rudimentary framing to complex finish work. As I searched for a subject matter to use for my paintings, the shapes and interaction of materials from my building experience seemed to be a natural choice.For each painting, I start with the concept of an 'architectural vignette', which could be an actual object in a building structure taken from my experience, or it could be a macro-view of a particular structural element"

Susan Overstreet's creative process of weaving vibrant colors with a staccato technique of palette knife and brushwork captures a visual tapestry between abstract imagery and representation. Overstreet's bold expressive style is driven by unique natural elements found on Cape Cod that offer an evolving kaleidoscope of color. "I work quickly. capturing the subject extemporaneously is vital to breathing life into it visually," explains Overstreet. Laurence Young grew up in Newton, Massachusetts, then like a rural haven. It was in those early days of childhood exploration among the woods and waterways that he would sit for hours observing and drawing, hidden from view on the embankment of the Charles River. One could say that this was a foreshadowing of what would become a lifelong career as an artist. Young graduated with honors from the University of Hartford in 1974 with a bachelor's degree in art education. In 1979 he went on to earn his master's degree in Printmaking from Rhode Island School of Design. Initially a plein-air painter is now a full-time studio artist living in Provincetown, MA. Working outdoors from life has served him well in his studio. His innate color sense sets him apart while integrating his line work which comes and goes within the work. Sometimes the drawing articulates the image while other times it adds another whole dimension. There is a quiet and volatile quality to Laurence's work that draws the viewer in. His love for nature is visceral, while his seascapes rock gently with the sense of water ripple as it ebbs and tides. His figurative work skillfully represents the figure then abstracted with color and shape. Laurence has had a successful career of over 30 years as a working artist. Heather Pilchard is a painter, photographer and bookbinder. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in 1995. "I am a lifelong art lover who discovered painting after I moved to this beautiful place. I'm originally from upstate New York. My life before Cape Cod included degrees in psychology and public administration and nearly 30 years as an administrator for a public pension fund.

I'm a juried Artist Member of the Cape Cod Art Center and feel fortunate to have won numerous awards in their shows, including two "People's Choice" awards in open juried exhibits. I'm also a member of the Falmouth Artists Guild, Yarmouth Art Guild, South Cape Artists, Sandwich Arts Alliance and the Provincetown Art Association and Museum.

Interested in glass, Will Mayer studied flame working in early 2000. It didn't take long to realize he loved creating glass. HAL MCINTOSH (1927-2016)

Born in 1927, Hal McIntosh's art career started in early childhood with studies at the Detroit Art Institute and the Toledo Museum. He became the youngest person ever to be invited to set up his easel at the Research Studio (now the Maitland Art Center) founded and run by the famed artist and architect Andre Smith and financed by Mary Curtis Bak, the daughter of the publishing magnate Cyrus Curtis.

He studied at the University of Michigan with a Graduate Degree followed by a teaching position in sculpture and design. Following school he worked with the portrait painter Jerry Farnsworth and his wife Helen Sawyer [represented in the American Wing of the Metropolitan Museum in New York] at the North Truro School of Art on Cape Cod, Massachussetts.

Hal maintains studios in Winter Park and on Cape Cod, following the seasons while continuing to paint his favorite subjects.

Laurence Young grew up in Newton, Massachusetts, then like a rural haven. It was in those early days of childhood exploration among the woods and waterways that he would sit for hours observing and drawing, hidden from view on the embankment of the Charles River. One could say that this was a foreshadowing of what would become a lifelong career as an artist. Young graduated with honors from the University of Hartford in 1974 with a bachelor's degree in art education. In 1979 he went on to earn his master's degree in Printmaking from Rhode Island School of Design. Initially a plein-air painter is now a full-time studio artist living in Provincetown, MA. Working outdoors from life has served him well in his studio. His innate color sense sets him apart while integrating his line work which comes and goes within the work. Sometimes the drawing articulates the image while other times it adds another whole dimension. There is a quiet and volatile quality to Laurence's work that draws the viewer in. His love for nature is visceral, while his seascapes rock gently with the sense of water ripple as it ebbs and tides. His figurative work skillfully represents the figure then abstracted with color and shape. Laurence has had a successful career of over 30 years as a working artist. His paintings are represented all over the country through various galleries. Young is also part of public and private collections.

"I have always been fascinated by the beautiful things created by the intersection of color and light. It could be the incredible detail and variation found in a bird's feathers, the delicate symmetry in a flower's springtime bloom, the golden hour before a shoreline sunset, the reflection of light off the surface of the water, the sadness of paint peeling on an abandoned building, or the complex colors created by rust on an old dock. I look for all of these things and attempt to capture the moment with my camera. For me, capturing these moments reveals the beauty and exquisiteness of life itself. Nothing brings me more joy, more peace, and more fulfillment than photographing the beauty surrounding me and sharing what becomes revealed with my camera. Given the ugly times that we live in today, I believe it is critical for all of use to take the time to see, feel, and savor the glorious color and light and loveliness of our world. It's there waiting for us to see it."

"With my eyes closed, I am surrounded by ocean waves, falling snow, prismatic sunsets, or swaying sea grass. The air is fresh and inviting. Imagining nature's song playing for me, a sense of calm takes over as I relish a familiar journey. Residents of Harwich, Massachusetts, my boys, husband, and I love our Cape Cod community. I am always making note of my next painting from our surroundings.

Graduating magna cum laude from Franklin Pierce University, I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Graphic Communications including minors of Fine Art and Art History in 1996. In addition to graphic design, my early studies included life drawing, glassblowing, and photography; I later concentrated my fine arts studies on painting."

SUSAN BEARDSLEY DENNIS, MA

Sue Beardsley began her art career after taking an early retirement at age 51. She specializes in Found Art, making things from material that is no longer suitable for its initial purpose. Starting her art life as a stained glass artist, she soon became consumed with intriguing metal shapes that were being thrown out, and realized she needed to learn to weld in order to fashion these pieces into sculpture. Sue has since expanded her media into fiber, paper, and wood. She has been in many group and solo shows over the years, and continues to teach individuals in her studios.

Mary Dunn Cauley is a mosaic artist, teacher and enthusiast selling mosaic art for over 15 years. She has studied under and learned the craft from local mosaic artists James Bowen and Linda Dadek. Created by acclaimed white-line printmaker Ruth Hogan, Art in the Garden exemplifies the bold color and handcrafted beauty of the Provincetown white-line woodblock tradition. Although Hogan grew up in Texas, her artistic roots run deep on Cape Cod through her great-aunt, Elizabeth Howland Caliga, one of the founding members of the Provincetown Printers. She also studied with artists Robert Douglas Hunter and Ferol Warthen in Provincetown. Inspired by that legacy, Hogan embraced representational scenes filled with warmth and vivid color, believing art should celebrate the joy found in everyday life.

This impression is especially significant as an Artist's Proof (AP), a rare print retained by the artist during the creative process before the principal edition was completed. Because each white-line print is individually hand-painted and hand-rubbed from a single carved woodblock, every impression is unique, making Artist's Proofs especially sought after by collectors.
