I loved learning to foundation paper piece to make this beautiful twin size quilt! Machine quilted by Kim at Doodle Stitches, this quilt is backed by a plush minky fabric that really shows off the quilting design and allows the beauty of the heart to show on the front. What has become a habit of mine, I've included a couple of standard size coordinating pillow cases. Machine wash cold with a couple of color catchers for the first few washes and tumble dry on a low setting; this will only become softer with each use.

This quilt uses ombre fabrics to form interconnecting geometric shapes. Each ombre fabric softly transitions from lighter to darker, or in some cases from one color to another, creating a sense of depth and luminosity. The background is a solid white. As you look at it you can see secondary patterns in the background -- squares and "plus signs" are formed in the negative space. The quilting features parallel straight lines coming out in angles from a point in the quilt that is someone off the center. The backing is a neutral gray/white fine crosshatch fabric, with an accent strip featuring fabrics used in the front.

As an ally with many friends in the community, I am happy to support the work that GSAFE is doing. As a quilter that makes more quilts than I personally need I am happy to share my work.
This emotional support chicken is hand knit with love! It's made with luxurious wool yarn in deep jeweled colors. It's loveable and huggable with plush stuffing. Spot clean if needed, ages 3+ (due to the safety eyes).
Love is love, and I believe that everyone has the right to life their authentic life. GSAFE does important work in the Madison community to foster safe environments for LGBTQ+ students. This is my way of helping.
Cross stitch embroidery - cotton thread on Aida. This is a modified version of a pattern by Nova Stitch Creations. My kids play DND, and I've learned that the group comes together in solidarity. If one member of the group is attacked, everyone in the group joins in to defend and support that person. My aunt Terry taught me to cross stitch 40 years ago. In the summers, we'd stay with her and her family in Kentucky, and we spent hours stitching around the table. As I stitched this, I thought about the importance of active allyship, and supportive people. I hope whoever receives this is supported in the way they need.
Stitched area: 7 x 2 3/4 inches. Matted and framed: 11 x 6 1/4 inches
I am a regular contributing artist to this auction in honor of the LGBTQ+ youth in Wisconsin and beyond. May you be seen and loved for the marvelous person you are.

This scrap quilt represents 30 years of fabric collected and used in other projects. It brought me so much joy to bring them all together in this quilt.

GSAFE is a wonderful organization and I have donated several quilts over the years. All people should be seen.

Throughout our lives, we benefit from those who guide and support us. For some, these are parents, teachers, mentors, or friends. But sometimes, our own curiosity and imagination guide us to interesting places. As J.R.R. Tolkien shared in a poem in the Fellowship of the Ring, "not all who wander are lost." Hence, I renamed Jen Kingwell's "Wanderer's Wife" to "Wanderer's Rainbow."

The pattern and colors of this quilt remind me that it doesn't matter who we are or where we come from, our paths bring us closer together. The back of this quilt is a soft minky fabric. Dry on low heat.

This year I participated in the auction, because I needed to do something. In our divided and sometimes hurtful political climate, I feel helpless. In this small way, I can help show love.
