This photograph illustrates my love for architecture and the abstractions they can create. The lovely, blue-tinted building makes a dramatic geometric statement. It gets its color from the sky. It is accented on its facing side by disconnected white vertical shapes that become connected in the lower part of the building. Another building, dominated by brown-toned vertical elements, is reflected in the lower half of the bule building, but the reflection is imperfected assembled. Surrounding the blue building are fragments of neighboring buildings, whose darkened windows lend an air of mystery to the setting.
This image was taken in New York City in 2025. It was shot with an Olympus Om-D Em-1 II digital camera and printed on Epson Ultra Premium Photo Luster Paper.
I have been making fine art photography for over 20 years. I began this process with a medium format film camera, using only black and white film, which I developed and printed in my home darkroom. Eventually, I switched to a digital camera and now use Photoshop for whatever adjustments are required. I still do all of my own printing. 16x20.
