This unique on-the-water experience brings hands-on environmental education to life, and it only happens with your support. While fuel prices vary, on average, it can cost $1,500 to fuel the boat for an entire season. An integral part of our educational program is teaching students about our lake's connection to the Musconetcong River.

Before students even arrive at the Musconetcong River, our team is already hard at work in the water, collecting aquatic macroinvertebrates: tiny organisms that tell an important story about river health. Using a specialized D-net, we gather species such as mayfly nymphs, caddisflies, and scuds from a variety of habitats, ensuring students have plenty of fascinating specimens to observe and study throughout the day.

Our current D-net has faithfully served our programs for more than a decade. While countless repairs have kept it going, the time has come to retire this well-worn tool and replace it with a new one. Your support will help us continue providing hands-on scientific experiences that connect students directly to the natural world. Just $75 buys us a brand new net!

FUND THE MISSION!

The time has finally come to replace the Floating Classroom's nearly decade-old Isinglass weather curtains. After years of service protecting passengers and equipment from the elements, the curtains are showing their age, with stained panels, missing straps and buttons, ripped seams, and other signs of wear. Replacing them will help keep the Floating Classroom comfortable, safe, and allow us to continue serving thousands of students and community members, in any weather, for years to come!

The panels will cost us between $750 and $1,000 each, and we are hoping to raise a grand total of $10,000 to help cover the tremendous cost.

This spring alone, we cycled 2,116 students through four hands-on, stations at Hopatcong State Park, as part of our educational field trip program.

To do this, we rely on a large vehicle, which both stores and transports all the scientific equipment we need for each station. Be it tables, tents, buckets, electronics, boots, or whiteboards and educational signage, all of our materials need to be set up, broken down, and stored, using this van, each and every field trip day.

Help us cover the cost of renting one much-needed cargo van, which will support an entire season of learning and lake discovery!
