Join the Anderson Humane team as we welcome a transport of adoptable animals from an under-resourced shelter in another state. You'll have a behind-the-scenes look at the arrival process and experience the excitement of helping these animals begin their journey toward a safe, loving forever home.

This is a rare opportunity to see the lifesaving work of Anderson Humane up close-and you'll have a front-row seat to the moment their next chapter begins.

Scheduling will be coordinated by Anderson Humane's Director of Animal Pathways.

Must be 16 years of age or older. Experience must be used by November 7, 2027.

Vet Shadowing

Step Into the World of Shelter Medicine!

Have you ever wondered what it's really like to be a veterinarian? Now you can find out!

Spend two hours shadowing an Anderson Humane veterinarian as they makes their rounds and provide care to Anderson Humane's shelter animals. Our veterinarians are Fear Free and Low-Stress Handling Certified, giving you a firsthand look at compassionate, specialized veterinary care in a shelter setting.

After your shadowing experience, sit down over lunch and get your questions answered about veterinary medicine, animal welfare, and the path to becoming a veterinarian.

A memorable experience for aspiring veterinarians, students building their college applications, or anyone fascinated by the lifesaving work of veterinary medicine.

Appropriate for ages 16 and up. Must be used by November 7, 2027.

Wildlife Release

Experience the Wild Side of Anderson!

There's nothing quite like watching a wild animal return to where it belongs.

Join Anderson Humane for an up-close wildlife release as a rehabilitated songbird, duckling, raccoon, opossum, or squirrel takes its first steps back into the wild. You'll witness the incredible moment when an animal that has received care, healing, and a second chance is finally ready to return to its natural habitat.

It's a memorable, behind-the-scenes experience-and a beautiful reminder of what wildlife rehabilitation makes possible.

Species Release Months

Songbirds: June - August

Ducklings: May - August

Raccoons: Late July - September

Opossums: June - August

Squirrels: May - August

Scheduling: Anderson Humane will work to provide multiple release opportunities. Because releases depend on the animals' individual rehabilitation timelines, we ask that you be flexible and patient as opportunities become available. You will receive at least one week's notice of the release time and location. Releases may take place on weekends and may be an hour or more from Anderson Humane, so your own transportation is required.

Wildlife Rehabber For A Day!

Go Behind the Scenes of Wildlife Rehabilitation!

Ever wonder what it takes to give an injured or orphaned wild animal a second chance?

Spend four hours alongside Anderson Humane's Wildlife team for an up-close look at wildlife rehabilitation during the busiest time of year. You'll see firsthand how the team cares for squirrels, raccoons, songbirds, raptors, amphibians, and other wildlife-and how they prepare these animals for their eventual return to the wild.

Learn what goes into caring for different species, supporting their recovery, and getting them ready for the day they can go home to the wild.

This is a rare behind-the-scenes opportunity to experience the wild side of Anderson Humane and see wildlife rehabilitation in action.

Experience lasts approximately four hours and is valid during the 2027 wildlife season, May-October.

Ages 12-16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
