Two bottles of Schramsberg sparkling wine, California's pioneering house of méthode champenoise, founded in the Napa Valley hills in 1862. Schramsberg's wines gained national fame in 1972 when its blanc de blancs was served at the historic Nixon 'Toast to Peace' banquet in Beijing. This duo includes a 2005 Blanc de Blancs Brut and a 2007 Crémant Demi-Sec, showcasing both the house's classic bone-dry style and a softer, off-dry expression.
From Kathy Joseph of Fiddlehead Cellars, two bottles of her 728 Bubbles Blanc de Noirs, a sparkling wine made using the traditional méthode champenoise from Pinot Noir grown in the Santa Rita Hills. Named for the 7.28-mile highway marker at the entrance to Fiddlestix Vineyard, this small-production sparkler is picked at low sugar and high acid for a lively, elegant style. This lot includes the 2010 and 2012 vintages.
