Garu (/ga lu/) is the phonetic spelling of the Korean word "가루," which means powder or flour. The name reflects the integration of chef Jen's western culinary training and her Korean roots. Therefore, when you bite into a baked good from Garu Bread & Butter, it is a culmination of chef Jen's journey through childhood, culinary training and travel experiences.
